I looking at selling my HP and my RT next year and replacing them with a new BMW 450 and the 1200 adventure. I only went with the HP due to the 1200gs and athe dventure gear box was geared too high. Now the adventure comes with a low 1st gear it will be as good as my old 1150 adventure was. I could take my 1150 adventure almost any were I have had the HP.

The new adventure will be a great bike again.:thumb Who needs a big tank on the HP the adventure is back

yeah but not but yeah... there's something bout the HP which the GSA ain't...

+1!

I could be tempted by and Adv, especially for two up touring with the girlfriend but not instead of the HP! :blast Apart from the handling, rareness of the bike, and the versatility of the two sets of wheels - it's the lightness that the Adv will never be able to compete with. I think the Adv is about 50KGs more!! That's pretty close to riding the HP2 with my GF on the back!

So, the HP2 - same power as the Adv, more versatile, far cooler, and a whole lot lighter. It out GS's the GS :thumb

don't get me wrong would not get rid of my 1150 cos it's part of the family however when nothing else will do it's the HP reasuringly mental to the max...

I have a gs1200 plus my Hp2, i will be getting a 450 when they come out.............i love the GSA for long hauls but the Hp is just a fun bike.....i swap it between dirt and motard, and it's a blast......she's a keeper

I like what you've done to the HP2 Mav, looks similar to my type of setup. :thumb2

HP2 over Adventure

On several occasions I've had to lift my fallen HP2 solo from awkward back roads and trails. I Don't think the extra weight of the Adventure would allow me the confidence to explore the trails I travel. I sure would like a lighter bike for the crazy stuff though.. 300 XC-W (e) KTM:D

Thanks Snoopy and Nakedrider - I've already put 6000 miles on her since August. I love that bike!

hp2

kiwi, no way u can take a gsa to the same places as quick or with as much confidence as u could a hp2. The handling for a start is way diferent let alone the weight. However the 450 i understand as it will be fun.

Did you read what I said!!

"Now the adventure comes with a low 1st gear it will be as good as my old 1150 adventure was. I could take my 1150 adventure almost any were I have had the HP".

Without trying to be smart I can ride these bike well. Many have said how the hell did you get this big adventure up here. The thing the HP has on it side it is lighter to pick up and is better in the sand. I do not ride any of my bikes on the beach.

The 450 will be great on the tight stuff as well I'm getting a bit older now for the boxer bikes in the very hard stuff.

Ok, so there are more HP2's in Aus.
My bike supposably arrived today in Melbourne (from germany via london via wales via tossers). Looking at seeing another hp2 or another tosser in Sydney in March. Except I dont have an invite. Do I need one? Where do I get one?

I had a look at my HP2 today as it is in the shop for a new battery which has been installed but the new front forks have not arrived. Its been in the shop for a few weeks and I forgot how great a bike the HP2 is:blast so I may not sell it. I'm going to pick the HP up and ride it while the forks are still on order.
