E model,
tries to stall just off tickover, not badly, but i can feel it when throttles opened slowly
its better when hot,but still there
given the air /mixture screws not easy to get at, what u recon?
1/4 turn in or out?
anyone know what the standard setting is????

Pilot jet is blocked.

Has bike been standing for some time with old fuel innit?

Timpo.

What tickover are you running?

1700-1900rpm? :thumb2

From the factory the DRZ were very lean jetted for the UK market.
Pilot and main jets can be increased and gives excellent results.
Take a look on thumpertalk.com about what the yanks do.
My money is on the need to up the pilot jet size.....
Do you have the jet sizing (main and pilot) that is in it now?

T.

ill have a look on thumper talk, the carbs comin off for a clean today so ill have a look,
if the tickover is too low (as beerhunter points out), that may be causing transition probs too,
im too used to a low tickover on the bm i think

raised the tickover, set mixture at 2 turns instead of 1,1/2 and did the "eddy" mod off thumpertalk, feck me, that improves things no end!!!!!!!
also noted whilst on there was the fact that the starter clutch bolts shearing and killing the rotor like mine did is common, so im going back in for a spot of loctiteing,,,

The owner's handbook for the 'E' states an idle between 1700 & 1900rpm. :thumb2

I must admit I thought it was way too high at 1st reading but when I bought mine it was set at around 1400 - 1500rpm & it would stall all the time.

After fitting Rushy's Vapor speedo I can set the idle fairly accurately & it hasn't stalled since.

an the stalling is what can cause the starter clutch prob

Did you cure the stalling? The E I have just bought is doing this at idle or when slow manouvering. Runs ok for a little while then does it a couple of times in close succession.

I've no rev counter so not sure what my tick over is, tried speeding it up using the plastic screw. Helped a bit but not cured.

Do we have an idiots guide to curing this?

No idea what the jetting is. Bike has a CRD exhaust on.

yes, i took the standard 45 pilot jet out and fitted a 48,,,complete cure, its so much better now,,,,
i can get a faster tickover too now,,,
