More pics please.

Great box’s redcap, I am saving up for a set now. I’m interested to see some pics of them fitted to a 1150gs from the side showing the whole bike if anyone has any pics.

Nice one, Ian

final clarifying question ..... do I understand then that the steel rod goes all the way through the plastic stem--- ?
So I would cut it to length at the "Indicator" end,
trim back enough of the plastic to enable the tubing to fit into the indicator housing

Hi Roger,

Not sure if you've fixed this now...

...I got a set of shorter stems from Metal Mule (about a tenner) and am local to you.

So.. If you want to have a look/measure of my stems you are more than welcome. Also, if you do make a complete hash of things, I'm sure I've got my original stems lying around somewhere. :D

Hi Schiannini,
many thanks for your offer- I think I'm all OK now, but if not ( and I'll only know when I get 'em fitted ), I'll get in touch.
I had a look on Metal Mule site, and theey do say they have indicators, but no pics. Panniers look good, but at a price eh ?
Thanks again
Roger

A Little Modification

I've posted some ideas to redcap regarding issues with his pannier mounts. Nothing wrong with the mounts redcap provides, they're perfectly fit for service. I won't go into details about my concerns but he's given me permission to show my modifications here so any previous buyers can retro fit a mod if they feel the need to.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
''Hi Phil yes of course you can go ahead no worries ,it is a good idea i may take it up if thats ok ? slightly modified but very similar if that is ok ?
Kind regards Roger''
(redcap)
Of course you can Roger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Basically I've added a 4mm screw to prevent the mount from being turned from the outside.

Is that not very awkward when you want to take the boxes off Doc? The whole point for me was that they be QD. :confused:

Just to say I've received my Ardcase panniers, in black, from Redcap.

Have not got around to fitting them yet, but the standard of workmanship is excellent. Really well finished and amazing value for the money.

I went for them largely on Aidan's say-so and am very well pleased indeed.

Thanks Roger (redcap)

Not at all. They're still QD.
Pre mod I just slackened the knurled nut off & twisted the mounts free. (Which struck me as a potential security risk)
Now, post mod, I just slacken the knurled nut off enough to push the lever clear of the 'puck'. Then twist the mount free - the nut still stays on the bolt.

Cheers Harry good to speak to you earlier i have a few pics of your new boxes to show of to the boys and girls !

Redcap fitted my lovely new panniers last night, and as far as I could see, (it was getting dark !!!) they look the DB's. I'll take some photos later, and add to this post.
So, nothing fell off or broke down on the way home, ...( I was originally having them fitted on Saturday, but my Bulgarian fitted fuel pump packed up...).

So, here are the photos of my boxes,
LH side is 8", RH side is 9". They are fixed onto TT frames....

Sorry I couldn't take the photos in a more scenic spot (like the Doctor !!), but I think the "lock-up look" is in keeping !!

Here's a pic of Redcap's security mod to the fixings, much like The Doctor suggested, but slightly simplified!

So, you can put me down as another happy bunny, thanks to Redcap , and thanks to him for fitting them too.
Really the only thing I need to do now is to just move the Remus silencer slightly, as it is a tad too close to the bottom left fixing bolt- that's tomorrow's job !

I think the panniers are great, look the DB's, and fantastic value for money, and Roger did me a great job.:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb Recommended:mmmm

If you've got varios on a 1200GS & you're thinking 'yea, but how much more will redcap's ARD panniers hold?'

Then wonder no more. :D

Here's a non scientific demo! :augie

The std right vario pannier expanded to full volume & stuffed to the brim with std DVD cases..
-0001Small-1.jpg

Then all those cases put into my ARD right hand pannier...
-0002Small.jpg

Wow, loads more space!

OK, here's the left vario..
-0003Small-1.jpg

& finally those same DVD cases placed into my left ARD...
-0004Small-2.jpg

Don't forget you also get the added bonus of being able to tie luggage to the lids too.
No regrets whatsoever buying mine, cheers for a great product redcap.

Your non scientific test speaks volumes (!!!) for the ARD cases, but leaves some questions unanswered regarding your tastes in DVD's......and those are just the ones we can see:P

I'll have the Last Waltz and the Dylan unplugged though please !!!!!! Oh yes, and the Pink Floyd...and the Neil Young - well maybe your tastes are not so bad after all :thumb2

Very happy with mine -think I've managed to move the Remus to one side now, so all I've got to worry about now, is not to take all the paint of some poor soul's smart shiny BMW car in a traffic line whilst I'm filtering...oooops:P

M&S pannier liners are just 80p and are as sung as a bug in my (admittedly) much larger panniers. :)

Photos? :D

Being a frugal type I only bought the 1 ASDA bag so I'm now on the lookout for a bag to fit the r/h 10 inch case.
