Ok guys im sure someone has done this before, tried the search but would take hours.
My gs 1150 wheel hubs are corroded, so whats new about that? well nothing, its just annoying the crap out of me,

so question is can i strip the spokes off and get the centres blasted clean and get them repainted and rebuilt without the new paint interfering with any clearance or tolorances there may be between the hub face and the spoke sitting(does this make sense?) im not up on wheel building.
Ive a guy who respokes wheels and that part is no problem, so he can strip and rebuild when i get them redone. The spokes look in really good nick so can i use the same spokes again?

I was thinking of getting the hubs(cetres whatever they are called,) epoxy powder coated with a powder primer a wheel refurbishment place does, they do a great job, just got an alloy rear rack off the adventure done with this then painted it for my SE project and its a great job and will keep corrosion at bay.

Oh, sorry one more! can the ABS rings be painted or will this interfere with them?

Does anyone see any problems?
Cheers

I had a similar problem with my bike an 02 Adv
I had plenty of time last winter, took the wheels out stripped off the brake disc
Cleaned up the spoke nipples and masked off each spoke where the spoke enters the nipple, I used drinking straws slit down one side to speed up the process.
Them clean up the hub and spray with silver hamerite
I took off the ABS ring and painted that the same, be very careful and patient when trying to remove the ABS ring screws, sue plenty of heat.
You need to get the wheel hub reasonably warm before painting , it obviously need to be clean, put on a couple of ‘dry’ coats of the hamerite and then one good ’wet’ one
Keep the hub warm when drying. Comes up like new.
I do have some pics on my other PC may be able to post when I find them.
The results you get depend on how much patience you have , I am not that patient but extremely tight not wanting the expense of stripping hubs
