Broken windscreen pin thingy

Its great to see everyone has a fix ..but shouldnt this be for bmw to sort out or redesign??? £15000 and we have to redesign our bikes or is that just the norm...

You're absolutely right, BMW should sort it out and who knows they might. In the meantime, we could keep claiming new clip/pins under warranty but to be honest I can't be bothered with it all so I'd just as soon sort it myself when the fix is cheap and easy and not have to worry about clips going missing when I'm hundreds of miles from home.

Brilliant idea! just purchased 4 bolts using the link, I was going to get a friend to drill through the original bolts where cir clip goes and use a clevis pin, but i prefer the bolt idea!

You can also obtain the stainless steel washers from same site.

i noticed one of my screen pins was half hanging out yesterday and the circlip had gone walkies on the other side too

Great tip about the shoulder bolts though :beerjug: I've just ordered 10, plus nyloc nuts and M5/M6 washers for £6.01, so will have 4 pairs spare if someone wants a pair :thumb2

lost a circlip from each side - fortunately not the pins! used a little mild Loctite to hols as did not want to risk losing them on the way home - been fine since, will push out when needed. Pity BMW miss the simple issues!

Just contacted Southport Superbikes (aka Bowker Motorrad) to get replacement circlip and pin missing from my GSA screen. I am told that they are now replaced with a new fitting so BMW have acknowledged the issue and sorted it :thumb

It just so happens that my mate sat next to me has just mentioned the same thing.

I don't know what's causing it,vibration maybe, but I have fitted a bracket to my screen to reduce the vibration and I'm thinking about developing a stainless steel replacement pin (clevis pin) with a shoulder at one end and a hole for a split pin which will completely eradicate the current problem.

Now you've got it!
I replaced mine in a ships/yacht chandlers, stainless steel pin with a split ring, rather like a key ring plus a washer or two. It ain't going nowhere, and cost a couple of euro only.

My nearside pin now gone AWOL: Just tellin y'all :rob

Two bolts and two circlips part no 46638524981 £23.48 include vat but foc to me ; thanks Hadyn @ Dick Lovetts , Bristol.

p.s. FWIW the pin/circlip design has not changed since my bike was built early 2014

Both my circlips snapped due to corrosion despite looking like stainless. Both swapped f.o.c by A.J Shipley. Probably would not be a problem if we would accept standard black circlips.

Mark Hooton (Cymarc) does a emplacement stainless pin kit with R pins instead of E clips, better solution than BMW's I think.

lost my left one, £11.40 for new pin & clip!!!! Rang mate with a 14 plate GSA to warn him and he had one missing. Nice little earner for BMW:D

Has anyone gone one step beyond... and lost their screen yet? Two pins lost and it is held on by the two adjustment arms and I cannot imagine that the plastic arms would survive long at speed.

Screen pin

2015 model has been upgraded , sorry if this has been already posted
