I have a 2010 GSA with Metzeler Tourance Next tyres on. What should I be running the pressures at?

Cheers

I need one setting for either solo or two up as often switch between the two.

Have been running them a lot lower as that was the pressures fitted. 2.1f/2.2r showing on the dash.

Will pump up. Probably 2.4f/2.7r or similar.

I'd go for the higher option of 2.4/2.7 or 2.5/2.8 if you often have a pillion/luggage. You'll notice low tyre pressures more 2-up than you will high pressures 1-up IMO. I'm not Valentino Rossi though!

I'm not the best rider in the world so really don't push the thing anywhere near it's limit.

I'll try incresing to 2.4/2.7 and see how it feels. I must say, I've enjoyed the bike with it at 2.1/2.2 so will see if it's a revelation with them slightly higher!!

Thanks guys

I would run 36 front and 42 rear and you won't go far wrong.

Do the check manually and don't rely on the TPS as they are often up to 5psi out. Your's may be correct of course but double check.

I had been running the bike at 36F and 42R until i had her in for a service and mechanic recomended going down to 32F and 36R and i must say the bike feels better with the lower pressures. Also he stated that with 42R is going to be wearing the tyre out quicker which makes sense. Last tyre was squared off and that was always running at 42R, if it means the tyre doesnt square off as quick then happy days. Done about a thousand miles with the new pressures and bike handles nicely and im no light weight at around 100kgs. Lots of others on other bikes saying the same if you google it.

Mine is a 2011 1200GS

36/42 for me on my 2010 GSA and just got 11,000 out my last set of Tourances.
Having said that just got TKC70's fitted and after a 300 mile run today think I'll drop the pressure slightly as I was feeling every bump in the road on NORM.

Just stick with what the handbook says, repeated on the bike with a sticker.

Personally, I'd go with what the relevant tyre manufacturer recommends. It's their product, so they should know. The handbook is correct (possibly) the day it is printed. Tyre technology changes.

That would be 36 42 then. The bike manual has always been low to what Metzeler recommends.

I've done nearly 20K on the GS and 50k on the previous bike using 36/42 with various tyre brands (often mixed front-back). Tyre life and handling is normal.

Plus 1 for 36/42 I like it better and the bike feels better.

Rockred.......... aka Valantino Rossi. ;)

Just pumped them up. Will see how they go on the ride home this evening.

If you don't hear from me again, I've fallen off and died!

Fortunately I made it home in one piece. Absolutely belting it down so will have to report back later
