Boy, was it nice out today. Being a fair weather rider this could well be my last ride of year. 200+ miles reached my 5,000 mile annual target.
Last night’s TV weather forecast was spot on.
So I waited for the morning frost to disappear then headed SW to some of the country’s best stretches of tarmac.
One closure on the A71 was a minor hassle, but otherwise a great ride. Some roads for the first time. The B735 was so much fun heading south that I turned round to enjoy 10 miles north, then south again. Big grin all the way. And I’d happily pay a £1 to enjoy the smooth tarmac into the wee toon of Sinclairston.
Dalmellington to A74 is stunning when quiet. Main target was the infamous A702, followed by the road to Biggar and onwards. 2 bike bobbies were heading south on A702 - maybe having as much fun as me.
Temp was over 10 much of the time, but boy it was chilly down to 2.5 degrees after 6pm. Thank goodness for hot grips and hot vest.
