Insurance excess - wow thats an increase

Just been looking to insure a 16 plate LC

The premium isnt far off what i'm paying now, but the compulsory excess is astronomical

Current bike 06 hexhead £150 FC with £0 excess

new bike

16 LC £180 FC with a £500 excess

some places were going as high as £700 excess

And im in the sticks lol

Most are around £600, but a few are £350 at least thats what ive been quoted.

Phoned my company yesterday about adding another bike, compulsory excess increased from £150 to £250 with voluntary being £500 and they wanted another £120 to add a second bike yet for only 8 months cover.... scamming bastids.

The excess on my stolen '63 plate was £2k.

Seems i have had it quite reasonable,

I was speaking to a friend at work who has a 15 plate GS

He pays £280 FC + a large excess

Could pay £250 myself to reduce the premium by ..... £20

as if lol !!!

Just been onto my insurer to discuss adding it in as a policy change

they charge a £25 doc fee for the change ..

but as i'm in the last 28 days of the policy, they dont charge for any ammendments ...

so to add new bike with the same cover as the old .... Nowt and no change to my excess (£175)

so how does that work then???

Think I’d be sticking with them come renewal time, might be a few percent addition but should be able to argue for same excess.
