Those exhausts are listed on Motorworks website;

£317 for the titanium one or £271 for the steel.

Methinks someone photoshopped the pic tho'....

Scorpion can

Have decided to go for Metal Mule panniers using their balanced system of new Scorpion end can and equal sized panniers. The panniers themselves are unfortunately on back order but I received the new can and pannier rails at the weekend. The can is very pretty and sounds good. Thought you'd like to see some before and after pics. It does make you wonder why BMW pick such an awful ugly sticky out can in the first place.

Of course the pannier rails spoil the look but they make excellent fairing protectors for when I inevitably drop the bike

Is the new can louder than stock?
how much was the pannier system?
Cheers
Ben
P/s my bike looks exactly like yours!

Damn that is sexy. I've never been big on upgrading cans on any previous bike...but that looks good. Is it much narrower than stock can? How does it sound? :augie
Sound is, as always with Remus, better. Not as "canned" as the original. I will keep the DB-killer fitted. Too noisy without it.

Price 425 Euro. Delivery 2.5 days from Germany to Sweden (!)

Popping sounds from exhaust

I occasionally get popping sounds from the exhaust whilst I'm on a trailing throttle setting, i.e. just coasting on a very light throttle setting or slowing down usually in 1st or 2nd gears.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a cure?

Just the odd time... probably a slight air leak where the can fixes to the pipe (not clamped, tolerance fit, held together with a couple of springs) .... shows itself mostly on a closed or trailing throttle, quite usual, dunt worry, sounds nice :thumb

I thought it had something to do with flushing/purging extra fuel through on the exhaust stroke, it has something to do with efficiency I think. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong - this is based on a pretty vague memory.

pic of exhaust please?

My man saw a picture of a silver exhaust for the 800 that appeared to have a carbon tip, anyone know where this is cos we can't find it now,
Thanks
Catherine.

Any use for an OEM exhaust?

Got my scorpion exhaust yesterday as I went to get my metal mule pannier rack fitted (long story bike has to fit into the trailer so the standard rack is too long). Sounds much better! And now I have a standard exhaust, pretty much brand new, that I will never have a use for as far as I can see. But do I just throw it away or would I or anyone ever need one?

Thanks to Paul at MM by the way, endless patience and ingenuity!

Catherine.

That I will never have a use for as far as I can see.

Rin, never say never.
If you can hang it up in your shed/garage then do so.
It only takes a small spill and damage to your new system can prevent use of the machine. At least you can pop the old system on to get you on the road again.
If you think this ain't going to happen, then put a price on it and list it on the 'For sale' section on here or Ebay.

Timpo.

Keep it. When you eventually come to trade the bike the dealer will want it as standard as possible, so at that stage you put the original pipe back on and sell the MM pannier rails and Scorpion exhaust separately.

Micky - I configured my GS here in the 'States earlier this month for (hopefully) August delivery. The dealer had a couple of bikes with the Akropovic pipe on it and said I would not regret ordering one for my bike. I'm dying to hear how it works on the 800GS. How is the sound - I'm not looking for louder necessarily just for the sake of noise. Is it much lighter (in reality) than stock? Anything else I need to know about it?

Thanks in advance. Kevin

The Akrapovic is excellent quality and fits beautifully. It's quite a bit lighter than the standard and of course there should be no fuelling/warranty/insurance issues.

As it comes it's actually quieter than the standard exhaust, but does sound nice. With the baffle removed (easy) it's sounds quite noisy but certainly not objectionable. The girfriend (Gracie on here) followed me t'other day on her 'bike and didn't even notice the difference

For a halfway house I've cut the baffle in half, can easilly be welded back together, so the exhaust now looks straight out of the box. Without the baffle you can see straight down the pipe almost to the cat

Hope this helps...

Dumb question time!

Just so that I don't make the same mistake as when I asked about "Tit - leist" golf clubs many years ago in stead of "Title - ist" :blast , is it "Akrapovic", "Akrapovic" or "Akrapovic"?

I guess at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter but I'd like to know all the same.

Yeah! Isn't it great

If I am riding along in fourth and then slow right down for traffic lights it usually barp barp barps it's way down the street. People notice and hopefully other motorists do too.

I'm guessing it's just because there is excess unburnt fuel that gets into the exhaust as the bike is expecting you to be blatting along in 4th and not suddenly drop down to 2nd.

I quite enjoy it :augie

I noticed a similar problem on my F650. It only happens occasionaly when i was decelerating, mainly downhill. Thought i had a leak in my exhaust (I'll be honest i know nothing about mechanical things :o But im learning)

Spoke to my dealer who said that these bikes are prone to doing it. Is he right?
