Motoworks, "dam good"

Since I bought my R100 GS PD I needed some parts to personalize the bike, many of which were purchased from Moto works, I did however purchase the second hand shock from Sherlock's but found one of the guys there very abrupt on the phone, so I decide to stay with Moto works

Now I'm having problems with my alternator on my GS PD, while I was on the phone to M/works 1 day, I mentioned the problem to Darren who works for them, I can not believe the trouble Darren went to trying and help me out with this problem and is still trying to help me find the problem. This is far more then just customer service, it's above and beyond the call of duty, unfortunately there are not many like M/works in this country.

Thanks M/works for all your help. 10 out 10.

special thanks to Darren.

with you 100% on motorworks. Ive dealt with them for over 20 years and always found that they have time to talk you through things. The lady there ( cant remember her name} is VERY good on the airheads too.
Sherlocks I have also found to be very efficient but I agree about one of the blokes. I have met him however and he was much better face to face. \some people are not too good on the phone. I expect a paralever hipped bearded guru will be along shortly to give his opinion.
Although Ive not had much to do with Motobins, I believe they are pretty good too............ So.... Ar'nt we lucky. What other make of bike is so well catered for.:aidan

ok as long as ye dont get the bloody woman on the desk, ask a question ie (what is the known problems with the m95 boxes):blast.
she doesnt know the answer, then asks a tech bloke, why not talk to the mechanic in the bloody 1st place, phone call cost money...

bloody good service and parts delivered quick, apart from pads which they have to order in:nenau

i use motorbins for these always got special offers on:thumb

sherlock are also very good, just play em against each other and get best deal:rolleyes:

My Twopennorth

I use anybody cos I'm a "tart"
Sherlocks mainly tho' and have done for over 20 years.
James can be a little "acid" on the phone but in the real world he's a GENT:thumb
Peter, his sidekick is an amazing library of knowledge on BMW's especially airheads and is another real GENT :bow:bow

I was at Sherlocks for a couple of hours one day and the phone never stopped ringing. Orders taken, advice given and the occasional idiot causing James to bury his head in the paperwork on his desk :comfort

There's usually only the 2 of them there [ no room for anyone else:augie]
so it's bloody HECTIC:eek:

So imho give James a little TLC :Duchess and he'll come through everytime :thumb2

i also think steptoe is Ace:augie
never takes the piss, gives very good advice, never is sarcastic to new folk to the GS scene, and is the font off all knowledge.....

Yeh thats why they give you an 0845 number to call them on that costs them money to maintain for you

While yer at It "Yvonne" aka The Bloody woman is a very knowledgeable person in the norm but Hell we all have a our niche and hers is Airheads as she rides an Airhead combo ~~~ Respect :bow:bow

So a bit of resepct for folks jammed in answerin dopey arse questions, Why didn't you google or ask "Known Problems in M95 gearboxes" in here? Or look at Anton LArgaiders information which is free too!

They sell parts not advice! They give that free! :dabone

Hope ya had a Nice Day Ugg! :D:D:D:D

my point is im ordering an expensive part, spendin my hard earned cash , so when im looking for a little info , because im spending money with the company i want to speek to somone who can relate to what im talking about,
ok bloody woman was a bit harsh , but that's me... i speak to the mechanic and
they are inside the engines and can work out what yer on about...
google doesnt always give ye the info ye want , so speakin to a human bein is the best option...

always have a nice day jaythro:thumb

+1 - no vat for stuff posted from them either and cheaper than Aus suppliers :thumb.

there telephone manner is the pits... dont usually bother with them these days unless desperate.

I have had dealings with Sherlock's three times. Twice on the phone, both times I talked to the same guy, a very helpful guy even when I had tidings of woe.

The other time was by email, asking a few questions about parts fitting other bikes within the same model range. This fellas reply was quite frankly rude. I was in so many words told to f..k off and go buy something else.

So it seems there is a fella/arse at Sherlock's that is single handedly turning the potential customers off what 'I have on good authority' is supposedly a very good company to deal with.

Motorworks also have a guy who is less than willing to help. But he ain't an arse.
Now when ever I call them I ask if Darren is free. He is as you've said always willing to go just a little further than one expects. :thumb2

strikes me that sherlocks is staffed by old skool parts blokes who'll muck you about if you either don't know exactly what you want, or alternatively, submit to their authority on the subject.

on the other hand they are very knowledgeable and will mostly go out of their way to help you out. could be a lottery :nenau but the right customer approach seems to pay off.
those that suffered at the hands of the legendary dave benn at ray fisher in christchurch, and those like him, will know what i'm on about :)
