Whilst on the A120 between Stansted and Braintree yesterday I spotted a black K1200S being used by Essex traffic plod. The reg number was :-

EU58DVW

The blue lights are very discreet and you don't even notice them when the bike is behind you until they are activated.

Thanks but you dont see the number plate when it's behind you :blast

So what were you charged with?

Nothing Tim. I saw it parked in a lay by and the rider was just getting on it as I passed by. He came up fast behind me, flicked on his blues so I moved out of the way and he carried on after a badly smoking Peugeot that was further up the road.

City of London police or the Met (you can't tell, maybe it was MI5 or 6 or some nobs from Customs and Exercise) are running a brand new grey transit van (with ladder on top), a very tatty white Ford van (no ladder), a shiny black Renault Leguna and some other vehicle...

.....They make a lot of noise....and cause a lot of fuss. Or at least they did around Aldgate this morning. War on terror, no doubt.

Keep 'em peeled. :thumb

What about these Black unmarked BMWs (3 series and 5 series) in the West End??

Are they real?

Are the officers just bored of waiting in the traffic that they put the Blue lights on? They seem to switch it off once they realise London drivers don't give a shit and won't give way :D

Yeah, seen this bloke a few times around Chelmsford. Mostly on the A120/130/131 or in the roundabout in Chelmsford near the prison. Obviously a copper, though - he couldn't make it more obvious.

*awaits nicking*

They're traffic police not undercover, they have to make it obvious.
I was talking to one a few weeks ago who was telling me that if they are out as a single bike and rider they have to wear their flourescent kit or they aren't allowed to stop vehicles. If there are two bikes and riders out together they can just wear their uniform leather kit, still obvious they are police though.

I've spoken to a few Essex bike police and they have all been nice blokes, better than the car based officers in general.
They do get tasked with policing bike meets, but day to day they tend to be more lenient on the bikers than car drivers offending.

I've got no issues with any of them. I've got away with far more than I've been fined for when caught, and on every occasion it was my hand on the throttle.:D

Undercover Police in the M25 perimeter seem to have really piss poor temporary blue lights and shite sirens......I regularly laugh at them when they are attempting the outside lane of the M25:D:D
In London they seem to use anything from Mondeos to BMW`s to Vulvas, they don`t like it if you can make more noise than they can:D:D

I like London, it is full of shite and sirens.:thumb
