Guys
Not sure if I have been over charged for a service. I have typed the invoice contents as I can’t use the attachment functionality on the site. I was invoiced this by BMW Motorrad Battersea. I have a 2006 R1200GS that I purchased from South London BMW when it had 2000 miles on the clock. They serviced the bike prior to me picking it up; I subsequently took it to Battersea with 8000 on the clock for what is effectively the 6000 mile service.

Please note that for completeness I have included the £29.65 for the MOT that I asked for you should discount this when looking at the amounts below.

Please add your comments; it would be great to hear any thoughts / similar experiences on this. I was a bit surprised at the cost as there was absolutely nothing wrong with the bike. It would be good to know if this is the going price.

They charged you 4 times for brake fluids and once to check the brakes... but you live in London, so that doubles the prices anyway.

My last (48,000 mile) service cost about £180 from Cooper BMW at Boldon.

Maybe you should combine your next service with a stop-over sampling the flesh-pots of Sunderland..

:comfort

PS: Just looked through me service history: My 6,000 service was £224 and change.

PPS: I make the net total £396.02

Yep, I'd say you have been overcharged! As above, brake fluid seems to be there at least three times, 54 quid for a brake check????! and the sump washer (ok, only 28p!) seems to be on there twice.

I'd certainly take it up, I've given up on new BMWs but when I was using the main dealers for servicing I never paid that and that was on a 1200RT, K1300s and 800GS, doing 15-20K miles a year. Go back with the invoice and make them justify every line on it...

Expensive brake system you have, and I bet some of the scheduled inspection was on them as well  Bet you're glad it didn't need the brake pads changing :comfort

I make the bill total just under £400 which includes the MOT but not the VAT.
So in my opinion, apart from overcharging you they also can't add up!

£263.78 for the 6,000 mile service and the annual inspection done together on my 59 place GS last week - more details here. But, if it needs an MOT, your bike is presumably about 3 years old, so it will have needed things like brake fluid changed which mine obviously doesn't yet.

bloody hell
20/50 engine oil £11 for 4 lts rock oil
oil filter £8.60 motorworks
gearbox/ final drive oil £8 millers oil
spark plugs andrew page bosch £2.30 each
brake pads front x2 £25 off a very nice bloke from here

then you could have take it to the dealer for the rest of the jobs and saved a fortune

According to their figures the total should read £366.37. VAT on that @17.5% = £64.11. Total = £430.48 + MoT (no VAT payable) = £460.13.

However, take off the stuff they have charged you twice for and your total should be £315.59 + VAT (£55.23) + MoT (£29.65). Total = £400.47.

Still bloody expensive. Did they give you a price before they started?

That's just silly money for that service:eek:, but at least you have made other aware and that could now mean lost business.
We all know times are tough but overcharging people is a sad refection on the mentality of the dealership. Then again if you pop back you may find out they have made a 'genuine' mistake, we all make them. I would be interested to know how you get on, let us know.:thumb

I wouldn't expect anything less from those boys. It pays to shop around on the phone first and you will always find them 150 ish more expensive than others

do a search on my threads mate and you'll find worse from them. Honestly, I've always advised people to stay away from them for the same 6K + annual. On top of a 500 quid bill you get appalling customer service, rudeness, and worse.

not sure if you can drop me a personal message, but I'll happily give you the full account in private if you like. Honestly, the place makes me angry, and they'll never get another penny from me.
