Rear Bullet Lights

Decided to fit a pair of Bullet LED's at the rear. I took some time deciding where to fix them and ended up making a pair of brackets. If I was making them again I'd change the design a little (always the way). Anyway, they do the job.

I also fitted the gismo which enables them to be used as brake, as well as rear, lights. Here's a picture of the lights on, but not the brake.

In this location on the rack they are reasonably out of the way, clear the panniers and top box, but clear enough to give a bit more "width".

Easy enough to wire in direct to the rear light wires. Just a PITA getting the rear cover back on and keeping those pannier frame spacers in place.

Like the lights Paul. How did you wire them in? I have the BM led tail light and was told that I could'nt wire extra lights etc to it as it would mess with the canbus system.

I wandered off after seeing yours and had a look for things I could adapt (i want some pods for my fat rear end when I'm running with panniers..

lots of possibilities :thumb2

Good Idea. I am considering putting lights onto the panniers. A friend has some multi function (stop, light, indicate) LED strips which are ok. I've been browsing LED trailer lights which I may use along with some waterproof connectors.
On the back burner for the moment.
In some ways it's the indicators I'm mainly concerned with. May make some Z4 type lights to go behind the roundel on the tank? I've located a suitable LED and I have some 6mm orange tint acrylic in my bits box. Just that it took me a couple of months to get round to making the above brackets... I'd rather ride the bike!

As you can inmagine , with these fat arsed panniers, the indicators from the rear are made invisible at much more than about 10 degrees off centreline, so I put these vectralights on the outside edges of the panniers.

They are a LOT brighter than they appear in the pics.

They shine amber to the front and red to the rear, and they go double bright when brakes go on, and they do an imitation of KIT from knightrider when indicating :clap

Used my intercom for the first time in ages the other day... I now have a whistle/whine which I've tracked back to the bullet lights? Anybody else had this?

Seems I may have jumped the gun here. Disconnect the Zumo and the whine goes?? Think it's more likely to be the HID's and or the cable going from the Zumo to the Autocom as it's not screened... was ok before though???

Do you have a filter between the battery and the Autocom?

The bullets only have a resistor and LED so should not be source of noise, HID units however have electronic switching which could well cause noise.

I have HID's x 5, bullet lights x2, Zumo 550 and Scala G4 - no interference.

Yes but your G4 isn't connected to the electrical system is it and i'm guessing that the OPs is. :nenau

Just trying to rule a few things out - the Zumo is powered from the electrical system and I run a stereo cable from the Zumo to the G4 as well as Bluetooth :nenau

I had the same issue happen when I installed some HIDs. Weird thing is it appeared after the original install. In any case Starcom/Autocom make a power filter that goes from the battery into the unit and this solved the problem for me.
