Coopers not of Reading

Just got a marketing letter from Coopers, telling me that I will find the launch of their new showroom in Tunbridge Wells interesting, on account of my having been a customer of the Reading bike place in the past.

Stupid twits, do they really think that anyone from this area is going to go to Tunbridge bleedin Wells when NOG is nearer? And possibly the resurrected SPC?

I do wonder what some marketing people use to think with, it's certainly not a brain as we know it Jim.
 
Sending it to you was quite clearly a waste of a stamp - I also got one and I live in North London.

The marketing men are shrewd enough to know that is it easier & cheaper to mail everybody, rather then cleanse the addresses manually. For all they know, I might work in Tunbridge Wells, and be delighted with this snippet of information.

At least they didn't start the letter with:

Dear BMW driver :D ................... or did they ??? :eek:
 
I still get junk mail from BMW for the last owner of my house who had bought one of their cars.
Also get an SNP newsletter and Christmas card from a twit of an MSP because the occupant was daft enough to join the SNP.

I have lived here for 6 years........ guess nobody ever bothers updating their mailing list. At least the council provided me with a paper recycling wheely bin.
 
like we need a ride on the m25 and do what all day when the bikes being serviced:eek:. with dealers in oxford/guildford/alton? plus local m/cycle shops i dont think so, anyway how much did it cost coopers of reading to house a bike showroom in that little room with one guy.not much i think.
here's one for you , i went to buy a r1150rt a couple of years back and was told by coopers 'WE DONT TAKE CASH'sir mmmmm ferk coopers.spc ? yes please.
 
The marketing department has clearly been successfully relocated. :confused:

So has my custom, but obviously not to Tunbridge...:D

Now, if someone opened a dealership within walking distance of the Madejski and could do all my servicing on match days in around 3 hours duration, then..

No, but it's worked hasn't it......

It's now posted on a GS board that has an active membership of over 4000 people :D

(and at least 50 or 60 of those own a GS ;) )

Even by the unfounded optimism of most marketing folk, to expect that to happen is bizarre.

If the service in Tunbridge Wells matches that of Reading, your thumb may need reversing (in the nicest possible way).
 
When I spoke to them in Aug, they mentioned that another useful thing about the new location is that they are en-route to the continent should anyone need a dealership....

So... does anyone know if Mike Cameron is now not of Reading also??

Top bloke! He was the only person I could find read and willing to offer a discount on a 12GSA last year. It wasn't massive but that's not the point.
 
as an aside guys before you kill of the idea completely of a visit to Tunbridge Wells you do realise that one of the best biking roads in the UK leads into the town? The road from East Grinstead to TW is absolutely frigin gorgeous and well worth a trip from the riding heaven that is Reading for!! - Come off the M25 and J7 onto the M23 south, come off at J10, head for East Grinstead and then Tunbridge Wells, you will not be dissapointed I promise you. Put Tunbridge Wells into google maps and you will see a very bendy orange road to the left, that'ill be it.

The trouble is that all the roads leading up to there are so damn awful ;)

I'm not righting it off, but there are several other dealers much closer :nenau
 
I got the same post, presumably because I was on the Prestige mailing list. It is good news for those of us in Kent and Sussex who currently have miles to go. I think the service manager is the same Steve who was at Prestige and is, in my experience, a top bloke.

There are some decent roads around T/Wells; certainly enough to enjoy on a loan bike while mine is being serviced. I hope Coopers are an improvement on the last BMW Bike dealer in T/Wells - L&C - who went downhill fast.

Mine will soon be out of waranty so I think I'll continue using Brian Giles nearby for any bits I can't do myself.
 
Cooper Tunbridge Wells

Been over to Cooper Tunbridge Wells today. They're still kitting out the premises, but they are very nice premises, and had a quick tour of the workshop, too.

Steve Franklin, previously service manager at Prestige, is their service manager which is good news, as he always seems to know one end of a bike from the other. The other staff seem to have been drawn from other dealers.

They agreed my warranty claim for a cracked screen with no quibbles, and also had a good look round the bike to see what else they could find to do. Sadly, the rest of the bike's all ok. :D

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating, as ever. But I'd say it's a good start - they obviously have a good handle on customer service.

Oh, and it's in a better location than L&C used to be in the bad old days.

Those spangly new premises won't have come cheap, though!
