On a recent trip to abroad , petrol spilled and corroded my GPS & bracket .

Any one had the same problem !!!!!1

Using a BMW made bracket , but the plastic bracket one

Most plastics respond badly to petrochemicals - I've used a Touratech (alloy) bracket for over a year without incident, but haven't done more than splash it and the Streetpilot with the occasional drop of petrol while filling up. I'd wipe down any plastic surface that'd come into contact with petrol as a precaution anyway. I'd also buy a Touratech bracket - far more secure than a Garmin/BMW one.....

Mike:)

Thanks for the advice Mike , I will get one of those brackets .

I put a shower-sap over the GPs now , as only a few drops of petrol went over the gps and over a period of 3 days the gps casing cracked .

However before this incident the gps had ceased up on 3 occassions and luckily one of the party abroad with us was the person who sold me the gps and had witnessed the gps ceasing up .

Therefore we exchanged the gps due to the fault on this basis

Regards

Howie
