Does anyone know if any final drive issues have shown up. There are a couple of high milers out there with only minor problems to date from what I can find. Looks like they may have it sorted afterall.

Nick Sanders had a rear oil seal leaking , but was damaged by a luggage strap, after 51,000 was stripped and inspected but the rear pinion and gear had shown no wear so testiment to the Yamaha and how well its made

I might be wrong, but I would think the Yamaha bevel housing is a much stronger unit than the Bmw's.
I think the reason is that it's not single sided, and as a consequence a much more substantial design.
It'll take a bit longer to remove the rear wheel of course- but I prefer that.
I've never really liked single sided swinging arms.

Sanders had something wrapped round the drive which damaged the oil seal, when the local Yam dealer stripped it there was no wear marks after 51k. IIRC its a beefed up version of the FJR1300 shaft which is pretty robust as well.
I have had 8 GS BM's and it must be a trait as i regularly trawl the forums and net looking for issues with the bike i have just bought :blast
Nothing yet :thumb
