£700 off promo - Conti GT 650

Andy congrats on the bike. I rode one at the 2022 Abr rally. It only had 90 miles on it and I remember from a friend they do need running in. Keeping at a max of 55/60 mph I was really impressed with the mid range torque and smoothness. I couldnt really test the handling as we were in a group. It did feel heavy moving it off the camp ground , but once on the move the weight just melted away.

Two things my friend did to his was fit a small flyscreen and swap out the large silencer/ cats for a pair of pipes from Hitchcocks. It sounded really nice after that.

I know it’s a completely different engine but the 500 took a lot of miles before it felt properly bedded in so I’ll be nice to this one and see if that pays dividends.

I’ve got a few parts awaiting collection and they include a full exhaust so no more double skinned down tubes and heavy cats but they’ll not be going on the bike until it’s had the first service and I might even leave them off until I feel it’s completely run in.

The forks need some attention and I don’t know whether to just throw a wedge of cash at them and do everything or do it step by step which is ultimately a more expensive way to do it.

Maybe try a change of fork oil and at a spacer in each, make them yourself 10 to 12mm ph/bronze or brass seems to be the ideal size

That’s an easy option. I’ve got a small lathe and can turn a pair of spacers in under an hour and would probably use hard nylon but….

I still want adjustments for rebound and damping rather than simply preload and probably slightly heavier fork oil :D

Andy,

How are you finding the Interceptor?

Been offered what I think is a very good deal on a new one or a GT

Any useful pointers or info would be gratefully received

Regards

Robbi

I’m very happy with it. Out of the crate the suspension is best described as ‘lacking’ but adding a lot of preload to the rear shocks and keeping the tyre pressures high sorted that out a bit.

It’s quick to rev so you need to be a bit nice to it and I’ve changed the air filter for one that allows a bit more flow plus changed the complete exhaust system to get rid of the stupidly heavy standard one and it’s a nice bike to ride.

Many thanks.

Got a chance of a Mark 2 colour scheme one at £6099 otr.... Trying to talk myself out of it at the moment, it does look very good though.
