Screen sort of wanted...

Anyone local to me with a 650 that I can borrow the screen and try it on my 800? Fed up with the turbulance and am trying to go the other direction in trying to get some un disurbed ish air.

tah...

Hang onto that 650 screen fella...Im gonna ride it without a screen to see whats what... I know the 650 screen is tiny but i need 'something' and the 650 screen would protect the clocks and stop my bike looking like an accident lol.

Which makes me think, why dont we all start a thread where we can publicise if we have a spare screen that folks can drop by and try.. for example, i have an MRA screen that folks are welcome to try.. West Mids

The "screen" does just about only protect the clocks, somewhere to put the vignettes though :)

BMW touring screen

i was considering buying a BMW touring screen, to see if i could cut down a bit off the turbulance etc. on long journeys!!, but i was wondering for the peeps that have already got one, what you rekon??? worth it??? or waste of money:blast

I just bought a MRA vario touring the one with the adjustable lip thingy, tried it at motorway speed and its much better the good thing is that in towh you can put it down and its no real taller than STD

I'm quite tall and found the Touring screen moved the airflow to just under the rim of my helmet (ohh err missus) this caused alot of turbulance noises and very draughty around the neck. I have gone back to the original screen which although isnt fantastic, it is better for me

I'm thinking of going for the mra attachment thingy on the original screen.

Have you priced up a new touring screen:eek::eek:

I think somewhere on Tims linky thread there is a whole thread on options and reviews.:thumb
Dont forget what didnt suit me might suit others, horses for courses, etc.:blagblah

just my 2p worth:thumb2

I've had one for a few months now, and haven't ridden with it yet in the rain, so can't give you a full review.

If you look at the bike side on, the Standard Screen is much more upright. The Touring Screen, although taller, is actually quite swept back, and is probably more aerodynamic. It offfers much more body protection, to my not inconsiderable bulk, but delivers it straight to your helmet. I no longer get any flies on my shoulders, but seem to get more on my visor. I'm a little over 5' 9" so it won't be the same for everyone. I also have the comfort seat, which puts me a little higher. I'm hoping that when I do get to ride it in the wet this concentrated flow of wind will keep my visor clean rather than having to keep wiping it.

Overall, I'd say it's a nice bit of kit, much better protection, and cleaner airflow, and no turbulance for someone of my height.

If you're passing by Leighton Buzzard, you're welcome to try it.

thanks for the replies lads, its given me somat to think about, my bikes got the standard seat, and im about 5'8", im finding on motorway journeys theres alot of turbulance and plenty of flies on me visor:blast and to be fare anything over 30mph its got to be a visor down job due to the amount of wind pressure on me face:blast, even if i wear sunglasses at that speed the pressure is unbearable:blast, if i could just move the flow of air off me face a little higher i reckon it would be ideal:thumb

Hi I bought a givi larger screen off this forum , key thing is body pressure drops massivly. Im short 5 ft 6 and can now ride with an open face with reduced turbulence. At all speeds I still get air pressure on my helment (full face) but the buffeting I was getting has all but gone, makes long runs much more enjoyable.

GR you are about my height (your an inch shorter, so even better) with the same set up, works for me, had the very same problem. Just lifts it over my visor, but it's off my face. Go for it.
