Halfords now stock this type of nut in their motorcycle section. Don't know if they have the correct one but worth checking.

They have habbit of comeing loose and falling out,as i forgot to check them.

I'll make sure I check them. Cheers for the tip :)

I just changed screens from the Beamer touring one to the MM. Very happy!

Larger screen for 09 800GS

I want a larger screen for my GS 800, can anybody recommend a sceen thay have used also looking for engine guards & sump guard.

thanks

stuart

I bought a Givi screen off here, best purchase Ive made. Still get turbulence around head but all body pressure gone.
People also rate the BMW touring screen (more expensive) also Metal Mule

Good luck

Steve

I have the taller bmw one,it does take the wind off the chest but it still buffets around the head.Screens are such a personal choice because it depends how tall you are, whats great for one will be rubbish to someone else.

Been 6'2"...the givi highscreen sorted my issues. Plus around 80mph my helmet visor automatically shuts due to turbulence. Perfect, see my screen on my youtube link below.

Wunderlich ergo vario screen, motech bars and bmw bashplate... have tried 5 screens and that one is for me at 5 foot 7 the best.

I can recommend Wunderlich Ergo-Vario as the highest screen I know of for the F800GS.
On top of that screen I have the TT spoiler.

This works fine for me.
In the beginning it felt a bit fragile as the top was moving a little.
But I am confident now after testing it at speeds up to 180 km/h over some distance and at 160 km/h over longer distances.
I have testet it in forrests and gravel without sliding it down.
However, I did not ride with it in very hard off-road conditions.

It does protect me from turbulens all the way up over my helmet and I am 192 cm.
This means that I can have a comfortable march speed up to +140 km/h with pillion rider and full packing gear including Zega panniers and Famsa tank panniers.

It probably wont cope as much in terrain as the original or the Dessierto.

But for touring and long trips in general, it works top dollar.

I have the dessiero and it works for me at 6'1 / 185.5

it adapts up & down and forward and back and can have the tinted screen removed leaving just the fairing, all in seconds with 4 thumb screws :thumb2

but lotts pictures of all types mentioned on the existing thread -
under the Populat threads.....
Alternative screen options.

good luck with your choice :D

Here ya go....+20cm higher than stock. Should be in the warehouse in the next week or so...

I have a Metal Mule screen, and want to extend it up further!

Being 6' 5" the wind is directed right at my Arai Tour X-3, with a fracking peak! Needless to say I'm blown around like a rag doll on the motorway, after an hour it's unbearable :(

Have a look at Puig for GS800 from Germany on ebay.Paid around £100 includind postage, was here in 3 days, looks good and great build quality. You can even chose in between clear, light smoke, dark smoke and black.I bought mine last april, done trip to the continent and can't say one single word against it.A few weeks ago I've ridden my friends KTM 950 adv and must say that Puig on my GS offered better wind protection.
