Deflector

Would on of these work with an Ergo screen I wonder?

I am 6ft 2" and in need of all the protection I can get....

I was missing the steel plate (idiot). Installed as you suggested and went out today. First 200km of hiway at 120-130kph not a twitch. Worked a treat and provided plenty protection. Then 20-25km of rough gravel tracks with plenty washboard type surface, again stayed in place no problems. However on the return journey, a blast of 180kph found my handy work wanting and I managed to remove her before she became a deadly flying object. Back to the drawing board but must get it right as the thing works when you can keep it in place. One question, did you use locktight or such on the holding screws?

I haven't needed to use locktite or any other thread glue - at least not yet Got to be worth a try as a next step.

It might just have needed an extra tightening after some use ....

It might be that as mine is screwed to a screen that is slightly V-shaped / curved that it remains in a sprung state and that that deals with vibration.

You were giving it some too mind !

I have used the loctite on it after losing the first one when it bounced off, never to be seen again.

I'm 6'4 and use it with the Wunderlich vario screen, great combi for me on the 800gs.

thanks for the replies guys. Must say we were winding it a bit. I'm fitting to the standard F800 screen so also have the slight 'V' in the centre. Will definately give it another go as the deflector does works well when in place.

I fitted my deflector about a 18 months ago. I found it very good at certain speeds, ideal for motorways but not so good on back roads. I also found I had to adjust it if I changed helmets. It eventually fell off while riding along a French motorway, luckily into the cockpit area so it was not lost.
I did not re fit it for the rest of the 2100 mile tour or since. The times it works best (motorways) are offset by the times its better without (Back roads). I would re fit it if the adjusting was a one touch operation and defaulted to two or three pre-set positions.

When I bought my replacement screen (top pic) it was listed on eblag as a Touratech screen.

I've been riding for over a month with my old Davida Jet open face helmet and I've yet to get one bug hit my face or goggles, so that deflector must be doing something good !

I've got the deflector too, and have used it for circa one season. It really improves the wind deflection. With the stock screen the wind hits my throat and its a bit annoying at speed over 70 km/h, but this is solved with the deflector. But the fastening method isn't optimal. Wunderlich should have made a better adapter witch is better suited to the curved stock screen and with less small parts. I'm using locktite and it haven't loosened yet, but I'm not trusting that it won't. It would also been much better if the fastening screws could be used without tools. If one could use just the fingers to tighten/loosen the screen It would be easier to maintain good tension and take on/off the screen depending on riding conditions.
