Quick questions - what is the general consensus on whether to use exhaust sealant around the joins of slip on pipes?
I fitted an Akro. I didn't use any sealant, and all's fine.

I've been running a Beowulf can with the baffle in and now there's no cat. It's livelier than CrazyCaz's standard set up, it does pull better. But I wouldn't say it's huge difference. It does seem like it's a bit happier going a bit faster. It is however, even louder than before, not offensively loud, but you can't sneak past a doughnut eater at 110mph without him squeezing out the jam.
Up to you? It's been an interesting project for me as I like tinkering.
Big thanks to mark71!

I didn't seem to have all that faff (post 114)

Then I could have larfed at you taking the stuff off at the top of the bike.
and i wouldn't have had to drill the POS out.

And leave the stuff on the top alone.

Anyway, I had a nice time in the garage.

Is there a sum up somewhere with all available exhausts for the 800?
Something maybe with prices, loudness, how nice the noise is etc?
So, which one would you recommend out this list:
Leo Vince
MIVV
Blue Flame
Scorpion (which is also Metal Mule)
GPR
Beowulf
Fuel
I'm looking to buy one and I am thinking of the Leo Vince, MIVV or Scorpion !!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=C8ZYxLdR5boNow just need to learn how to shoot flames like my friends 2002ish highly modified Suzuki gsxr-750. (clutch in, Hit kill switch, two full opens of throttle, kill switch on, release clutch, = flames)
It's difficult to recommend one above another because it really depend on what you want. I don't believe any offer significant power gains - after all these are not race tuned bikes. In terms of noise/sound - everyone is a bit different and i don't think anyone has sat down with each exhaust and a sound level meter going through the rev range.
My best advice is to find someone local with an after market and go riding with them. I went with the Scorpion having randomly met an F8GS rider on a jolly to Brighton. I had heard the Akro and Beowulf. The Akro was quiet but had a nice sound when going. The Beowulf was a fair bit louder than stock even just on tickover. A friend has a Fuel can for his CB1300 and again it's loud. Another has a Blue Flame on his GSXR750 and again i would consider this to be loud (all these had baffles in) In answer to your original comments of preference i've not heard a MIVV or LeoV in the flesh so can't comment but would recommend the Scorpion as per my previous post #370.
Best of luck with you choice,
S
PS I wouldn't rely on any YouTube videos to measure sound as they are not at all accurate compared to real life sound.[]
Thank you for useful post ..
