Last time I checked was this same as yours:) I'm going to run the bike this time, until thank is empty so I'll know for sure :thumb2
 
OK, I did 390 km ( so much for dreaming about 480 km on full tank :blast ) and still had 66 km to empty tank, the tank was empty :mad: Reserve light went on at 70 km and at 66 km to go I was without the fuel :spitfire This 4 km reserve :eek: I manage to fill on the side stand 17,30 L. Now I know:(

:rob 390km on 17.3L (3.8 UK Gallons) thats a very respectable 242 miles, this is with the Rapidbike fitted?

Interestingly without the device fitted im getting 216miles before the reserve light comes on, now i know i can get at least 30 miles on the reserve so thats er..246 miles......:augie :nenau

Doesnt sound like its saving any fuel, of course its not entirely fair to say that as i dont know how hard you are driving it, but still I think I'll stick to the std set up.

Good test of the fuel gauge though!

Starting to empty the first tankfull on the new 650 twin. 120 miles from fill up and the fuel gauge hadn't moved, and the computor saying an average of 57 mpg left me wondering if the gauge was faulty, then at 130 miles the first block went :) Probably not get the miles you do out of this tank though :(

i dunno i reckon you will get close, i think my MPG has improved as the engine beds in- pretty well bedded in at nearly 8000 miles now:augie

I think 30 miles on reserve is not possible, I did 4 km from the moment the light went on, unless your comp working properly. I'm sure that bike is using less fuel, before I could ride like 220-240 km till reserve light was on...now was 390 km :confused:
 
so folks are we saying then that in a nut shell the
computer on the F800gs is giving us all the wrong information
and in fact we are not getting the mileage or the MPG its telling us

and the fuel computer information is not to trusted

Filled up at 204 miles with the fuel light on for 2 miles and with 2 small bars on the fuel gauge :) Filled with 14.3 litres or 14 miles per litre = 65mpg :)

Hopefully that means I'm getting 2.3 litres in that is "extra" to the book figure of 16, otherwise it means only a 1.7 litres reserve :eek:

sorry you guys are having problems with your fuel guages, mine has been spot on so far:confused:

I have never relied of fuel guages though, i always zero the trip when the fuel light comes on, fill up (not necessarily filled to to the top) and then let it count up untill the fuel light comes on again.
My last fill wasnt to the top and ive just clocked 204 miles before the light went on, the fuel range was telling me i had a 44 miles to go on the reserve.
I've done 30 miles several times on reserve so far, so i know it will do it (8200 miles and counting)

Just a thought but it important to remember the "Range Function" is calculating your consumption on the last few miles/kms you have done so if you have just done some slow city work it might give you an over optimistic range calculation?? this could/would be wildly inaccurate if you then leave town and start giving it some rice. :nenau

Want help me out in this case as the fuel light comes at different fuel level from time to time...., so I zero the trip and use it to decide when to filled up again helped me out.

hi all,

ive now got a Metal Mule touring screen fitted and have managed 237miles on a tank with about 1/3 litre left in there when i filled up:thumb2

that was 221 miles before the light came on then a further 16miles before fill up when i added 15.7 litres

thats as close as im gettin to running it dry i hope!

Anyway normal/fast riding for the most part so i think the screen helps a bit there

I'm going to try the good ole fashin'd way of topping it right up, running it for at least 120-50 miles and then topping it up again.
Compare actual liters used to computer reading and repeat excersise to try and work out if there's any semblance of agreement.

Until I've done that - I wont trust elektrikery.
