Do the Barkbusters keep the OEM Bar Ends?
Yep, Mine didnt come with any instructions either !
What you have to do is separate the left and right hand spoliers by fitting them snug to the top of your handguards and basically drill through the existing handguards. Fit the screws and thats the job done.
placed my order tonight for the barkbusters.Went for the silver / gun metal colour to match my bike. will post a photo when installed.![]()

I believe that some barkbusters will fit the 800gs, but i don't know what model and last time i checked there web page did not say either.
Any help, has anyone fitted them?
I've got them on my F800GS, purchased from Adventure Spec here in Blighty.

.......I could wire them direct to battery but if i forgot to switch them off or fiddling fingers switched them on whilst parked they would drain the battery.
I could also wire them direct to battery through a hidden plug and unplug when parked but would really like to wire so they can only be operated when the key is switched on.
I bought a secondhand 800gs without heated grips
I fell down when my local dealer quoted circa £400 to buy and fit genuine BMW (there is a lot of programming time to make the grips work sir!!)
Being a bit of an electrical luddite as far as canbus goes If i bought the oxford grips (my colleague has them on an Africa Twin and they have a very low power consumption) could i wire them into the back of accessory socket and would they then work only when the key is switched on.
ThanksThe cost of retro fitting the heated grips at the dealer isn't down to the programming of the canbus, it's the parts themselves that are very pricey.
Due to the nature of the design of the original hand grips, it's far from a simple job to fit Oxford heated grips. The best / easiest aftermarket type to fit are Symtecs.
I've fitted them to my Megamoto, there is an accessory plug (ignition switched for the GPS etc) I believe it's under the small panel by the ignition switch on the 800, and this saves the need for them to be wired to the battery with the potential for a flat battery.
Here's a couple of links that should explain it.
