► Louder horns (Stebel Magnum etc)

That is what annoys me most about BMW's three button indicator system.

Not that it uses three buttons, not that it's left button to turn left and right button to turn right, and another button to cancel, but that it displaces the horn button to a position that's never where instinct tells me it should be.

And yes, I know that I should just use the horn more until it becomes instinctive to hit the right spot without thinking, when I need to broadcast my position. I just can't bring myself to produce repeated blasts of the horn for no discernible reason to others nearby, solely to familiarise myself with its button's position.

And...

...breathe. IGMC.

Finally an 800GS owner sharing my exact sentiments on the arhaic, 25 years old 3-button-system! I hate it, although I'm getting used to it to some extent. It's simply THE daftest switchgear I've used in my 31 years as a motorcyclist. Especially on a gravel-capable bike with on/off-fuel-injected throttle response making exiting roundabouts a throttle-challenged exercise.

The blinker anachronism I'm getting gradually used to, but the horn button is dangerously misplaced and non-intuitive to use. I'm seriously considering having "japgear" F800R switchgear transplanted over to my 800GS.

I've just fitted the Stebel Magnum, I am assuming this is the horn the Army put on their tanks :D

Fitting was soooo easy, mainly because I have a decent set of wire stripers / connections etc, it certainly sounds 40% louder than the previous one, I almost want to go out riding and try it on some unsuspecting tin can drivers, although my conscience and the weather are preventing me from doing so.

Happy Horning!

( That sounds dirty :O )

If by that you mean that a tank doesn't really need a horn to clear a path, then you could be right. I still intend to replace the Magnum I fitted with a pair of (Ring-packaged) Fiamm horns. I've used these on various vehicles since the 1970s (BSA Victor, Triumph T120, Metro, Midas kit car, VW T4) with satisfying results.

Now, I just happen to know where one of these is lying in a field:

Cross my palm with silver and you'll own the onroad version of a nuclear deterrent.

Magnum fitted

I fitted mine the other day. It was definately a game of two halves!
First half, Magnum intact, a total bee-aitch! Didn't want to fit in the hole.
Second half, chunk of Magnum removed & small spacer inserted on the mount to place the horn lower, a doddle!
