I've got a pair of barely used Battlewings you can have, make me an offer.

They came with my 800, but I'd rather get some all terrain tyres when the current ones are worn.

If I hadn't bought and received the Tourance, I might have been interested. Especially as I have a pair of the TKC80's sitting in my attic with less than 300 miles on them as I liked them solo but do a lot of my riding two-up and didn't like how they felt when the bike was loaded. Nor do I do enough off-roading.......

Might chuck them on the 'For Sale' section soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Definately wouldn't mix road type tyres, but will happily mix off road tyres on my 800.

Well, I bought my F800 at 1700 miles last june and am on 9,000 now. Front still has loads left on it and I've only just replaced the rear with the Tourance.

Is that good or bad ?

I found the Battlewings took a little getting used to and as I don't ride at the limits of the bike or tyres, I can't say I've found them to be too bad. However, I see that most think the tourances are a much better tyre so I'm going with them. I had Tourances on my 1150GSA and they were no problem either. Remember we're talking road biased tyres and not 'Adventure' type tyres .....

tyre advice needed for an 800 GS

Can anyone advice me on the best all round tyre for an 800 GS ?

My mate has got Michelin Ankee tyres that has become uneven across the tread pattern, and causing a bumpy ride. I have seen that Metzeler make the Tourance tyre in the size for the 800. I have the Tourance on my 2007 GSA and think they are a great all round tyre especially in the wet.

Has anyone put the Metzeler's on an 800 GS, and if so are they better than the Michelin's ??

I tested many on my 12GS
Tourance EXP will be perfect for the wet and cold climate
If you were living at very south like turkey Conti TA would be ok also

Time for a tyre a change!

I need to replace front and rear, I have narrowed it down to either the Metzler tourance EXP or the Heidi's K60 scouts.

I was leaning towards the tourances but have heard allot of good about the K60s being a great all round tyre! I up to now have only been on the road but would like to do more off roading this year.

What the K60 like on the road?

Personaly on my F650GS I had the Metzeler tourance and laust autumn a pyreneese trip 2,300 miles on the tourence superb most confidence I have had in a tyre.

But having the K60's on now they look superb with the wires and no doubt superior off road. on road I get to much for comfort weave at about 80 which makes me roll off the throttle there after normality is resumed, have adjusted the ohlin and may have improved slightly in my mind but reality not.

Yes you get a Brrrrrrrrrr up to about 25 with the block thread which you soon dismiss. But weave the drunken Donkey Its as if a buckled front wheel occurs then disapears

But my next tyree at the moment will be Tourance

Thanks for the reply. I have to be carefull as I take my girlfriend on the back allot too. Just fancied doing some green laning this year and thought they would make a great comprimise!

Maybe I shall just have to give them a go and see what I think, I'm sure commuting in in k60s can't be to hard!

You'd do far better posting this in the 650/800 section.

Tyre choice is very subjective. IMHO opinion, the best tyre for the 800 is the Conti Trail Attack. It gives fantastic grip wet or dry, and wears well. However, that's only if you've no ambitions to go off-road. I've used the standard Bridgestones and Pirelli Scorpion Trails. The Contis are much better. Heidi K60's get good reviews, and are good if you want some off-road capability. I'd put the Anakees in between the Conti and Heidi. They'd be a good choice if you want some off-road capability, but not quite as extreme as a TKC. I haven't tried the Tourance, but they were good on my old 650.

The wife has anakee's on her 650 single...I think they are the best tyres for her bike, probably the best tyres Ive tried on any bike to be honest...
I'm no Rossi and I do poodle around..Her tyres just squared off that was all, there was no de-lamination or uneven ware on the side walls...

IMHO opinion, the best tyre for the 800 is the Conti Trail Attack.

+1 Brilliant tyre on wet/dry road and non-muddy tracks.

Is it only me or have others suffered white lining effects with the Anakees? It's not what I would expect from a tyre with less than 2k under them.

Other than that I think they're an excellent tyre.

I'm pretty certain that I'm putting a pair of Tourance EXP's on my 800 soon, my rear Battlewing has less than a 1000 left in it, so it won't be long!

Quick question gurus - a Stop n Go kit is no use to me with tubed tyres, is that right? Is there a repair kit for tubed tyres that can be used without taking the tyre off?

You can pop off one side of the tyre and repair the tube with standard patches. It's even possible without removing the wheel!

Picking up my F8GS next week, and am not starting to think about tyres....

Have anyone actually tried the Mitas E-07's on the F8GS, I'm a bit worried about some of the few reviews I can find say that they are not that fun in the wet.....
