07 GSA?

Hi,

I am looking to part-ex my V-Strom ( 06 reg, 1 owner) for a GS or GSA. I will be buying from a dealer as I want the simplicity of part-ex and also the warranty. It looks like I can get a 2008 (latest version) GS or a 2007 (previous version) GSA for my limit of 9k.

The GSA I am looking at is 1 owner, full history, luggage etc with 15000 miles. Is this ok for a 2 year old bike? Also will I be missing out a lot by not getting a 2008 model as regards revisions etc?

I am not sure whether to "downgrade" to a straight GS to get the newer spec. My heart says GSA but my head says GS.

How tall are you?

That could be a factor. The GSA is taller ... and do you really need a tank range of 400 miles on the GSA ?

If your Cock is large enough you can ride a 1200GS. Smaller Cocks need a 1200GSA.

Very small Cocks, that are not really Cocks at all, need the 1150s.

Depends what you're looking for...

The regular 12 is actually, for many people, better off-road as it is lighter and lower...

If you're experienced off-road, the GSA's extra travel can come in really handy. The extra wind protection (tank and screen), crash protection, decent footpegs and tail rack also make it well suited to use and abuse.

If that still doesn't answer your question... the 12 is the sensible option, the GSA just looks a whole lot cooler

If the GS doesn't have luggage you'll probably be spending another £600 on that, if not more. Go for GSA!

Only Minor changes 07 to 08 ,Bars have risers seat better for me though not all,engine 5hp more better gear change loose the starter motor cover LED indicaters and rear light,RED is a great colour in the flesh,though I did like my White one. Either way they are great bikes ,check all trouble areas have been done Ring Antenae FPC etc otherwise get it and feckin love it

Thanks chaps. I do have a small cock, so I guess the GSA is probably the way to go.

They way I was thinking is that if I buy the 08 GS I will need to get luuggage, probably a different screen (GSA one and winglet things) and all of a sudden it is costing me a lot more money. A lot of my miles will be touring 2-up rather than hardcore off-roading so a more comfy bike with a long tank range SEEMS to make sense.

Nobody seems to have raised eyebrows at a 2 year old bike having 15000 miles on it, so I guess this is not a problem as long as the ring antenna stuff has been sorted.

I will go for a ride on both options and let you know how I get on.

I was pretty much set on a GSA when I started looking for one, but no matter what my cock size, when test riding both I found the GSA seat was just too far from the floor. Yet a low seat put my arse too close to my feet to get comfortable so I settled on the GS. £300 ish to swap screens and fit winglets plus I don't mind having to stop to fill up each 160 miles anyway.

Test ride them both, back to back if you can, it's the only way to know for sure.
