09 R1200RT faulty cruise control

As above cruise control inoperative. Light comes on but nothing happens. Done a test I seen on a forum involving turning the ignition on etc but light stays on. Any ideas chaps? Anyone taken the switch cluster apart my manual is a bit vague

The cruise can be disabled by braking.

So first things to check are the front and rear brake lever/pedals, is the brake light stuck on? If so, cruise won't engage.

I had a K1200 that had micro switches attached to the clutch lever and twist grip that also disengaged cruise control, much older technology than your RT so not sure if they are there now but worth a check.

Also check that the front brake is not being fouled by the hand guard.

Brakes all good. No handguards on the bike.
