As promised, a quick review re the items received and installation. I'll do a ride review when the weather is a bit less damp.
I ordered from the Indian makers ... Hold My Throttle. This was after some positive noise on an RE forum. The parcel took 10 days to arrive. Pretty typical of orders from the sub continent and quite amazing when you think about it. The lazt fecker of a courier buzzed me and then left the package on the ground floor.
A couple of negatives ...
The parcel was contained in an outer box but the unit itself was left to rattle about inside the inner box.
There were no installation instructions. Not even a slip with a link to a download or a YT video.
The various connections were not labelled as they are on the example shown on the HMT installation video on YT.
Saying all that, there is an installation video, in English and the actual installation is pretty straight forward once you remove the tank. I used several of my own zip ties tidying up the cables. I also ordered a mount so that I could use the mirror mount as I have heated grips and other stuff on the bars. As it turned out, I managed to squeeze the control unit in between the LH heated grip and the mirror/clutch lever mount.
Having re-fitted the tank, initially I thought I had a problem. I tried the the unit on the centre stand in first and second gears. No joy. However, I got the bit between the teeth and revved it up in 3rd gear and it works. As I suspected, my reluctance to rev it hard in gear (and risk it taking off across the garage) meant that the required minimum speed at the back wheel had not been reached.
So far, so good then. A proper try out on the road, to follow!
