Fitted new battery and no start :(
I drained the tank as the fuel was over 2 years old, fuel light is on sometimes shows 1 bar on fuel gauge and there is a bit left in there as i could not get it all out.
HID and all indication lights come on but no fuel pump. Does the fuel pump not run if the tank is empty ?
If it does it must be the poxy alarm:mad: anyone know how to remove a Meta 357 ? looked on a few forums and it appears to be a knightmare without wiring diagrams. The alarm/immobiliser has been playing up since i bought the bike, got original install cert (Bath Road in 99) and instructions but no pin code card. i changed the batteries in the remote (£5) but it does not seem to do anything, pressing the button has no effect, red led stays on when i turn on ignition and flashes when i turn it off. if i hold the button down and listen to the unit i can hear a faint buzzing from the unit unde the tank.
any help please, spent all week on the bike and was ready for a shakedown run till now :(

Pump

Check the connector under the tank clean it and make sure it's pushed together correctly.

Just a guess but if you've removed the battery the alarm may have gone into some sort of protected mode which you'll need to do something special to get it out of.

Try a Google search - there's loads of information available about your alarm because it's quite a common model:

Cheers gents, googling from 5 am this morning and covered most bike sites and many in the same position as me, consensus is i am fecked. A call to the local Meta engineer confirms it, the system is locked in immobiliser mode as the key fob is not working and without the PIN number game over :(
I hate bloody bike alarms so am going to remove.

Dave, i will check the connector under the tank as i will have to strip everything off again to get at the alarm but i did ACF all the connectors while i was under there yesterday but did not split them so shouldn't have disturbed anything ?
The dash switches for ABS / hazards / heated grips were all playing up, squrt of acf behind them and all working fine :thumb2
I am pretty sure its the immobiliser as the red led stays on with ignition on so pretty sure that indicates the immobiliser is holding off the fuel pump.
If i cannot sor it i will have to call an alarm engineer to remove :(

Alarming

Throw the thing away (alarm not bike!) they are useless anyway good luck.
Dave GS.

Alarm is being ditched today and yes the sidestand switch did catch me out a few times :blast. off to strip bike down again and sort it now

Photo's

Taken on the way for a coffee with Vern this morning. Couple of minor jobs to do then all finished, considering it has stood for a few years rode fine. think the 1100's are made tough :thumb2

looks like a solid bike, I reckon I would refit the stock oil cooler though :thumb2 how does it ride after all your work?

Stewart

According to the history, in 99 @ 2years and 8500 mls old the owner asked Bath Rd to fit new pistons/heads from a 1100RS/full Remus race system/oil coolers/K&N and setup on a dyno. Got 6 dyno graphs std it put out 79.8 hp @7324 after the work 97 hp @ 7324.

Std oil cooler was capped off in 99 and 2 ktm coolers fitted.

Stewart, to be honest as i said to Vern i have nothing to compare it to as the last 1100 was the one i gave up on and only did 3 miles on before spending hundreds £ and months in the shed trying to sort it. Got bridgestones on and i have never tried them, i would say its a bit vibey but i have been riding smooth 4's for months :nenau. could be the Remus ? had one on my 02 adv in the day and took it off as the vibes an noise at speed gave me a headache
