1100 running rich

Hello all, I have been having a few problems with my 1997 1100, I seem to have a rich mixture problem, I am unable to get the CO down below about 3.5%, I have replaced the CO pot and the replacement one behaves the same as the original, I am able to detect an over rich feeling to the motor when cold (blubbering some black smoke and eight stroking) but this goes away once warm, though the exhaust smells rich at all engine temperatures. TPS voltage is 0.36 volts, should I be looking at the air temp sensor or the oil temp sensor? The bike is in standard configuration.
any info appreciated.

I agree with Alexeft, my 98 1100 ran rich and had inconsistent oil temp readings etc. Replaced the oil temp sender and it now runs much better, more mpg as well! I bought a second hand one and have had no problems.
 
Shouldn't of sold the 1150 :augie

1150 long gone, still really liking my 1100, if I could just get my fuel economy back. I just ordered a pair of the sensors, oil and air, just got to find the oil one now, my clymer manual shows it apparently levitating in mid air :D

Tentatively EUREKA, postie brought my sensors today (good old Motor works) off with the tank and the sensors were the work of a few minutes to fit, a couple of laps round the block to warm her up and on with the meter, I got the CO down to 2% (it would not get below 3.5% before) pop the manometer on and have a little synch at 3000 rpm, slight adjustment needed there, I am now expecting at least 45 mpg :augie not too much to ask is it? A subsequent road test reveals the bike to be running very nicely indeed :thumb2
Was it the oil temp sensor or the air temp sensor? I have both the old ones here.

Oil temp sensor is more likely. Engine temp difference requires very different air-gas mixtures.

The air temp sensor only has a slight effect.
