1100gs abs

my bro in law has gone a problem with his abs on his bike.we have been though all the checks and stuff on here ..no faults show when we plug in the code reader.hes just put a new BMW gel battery on yesterday and still no joy..anyone got any ideas..

alternate flashing lights? Are you waiting a few seconds before cranking the starter ? Have you tried the rolling bumpstart yet? I usually do it in fourth gear, whip the clutch in, turn off key, key back on, dump clutch, you will need to stop the bike to allow ABS to set, if that works then your ABS is okay. otherwise more info needed.

done the the check on the gap.done a new relay as the old one was playing up,thinking a new relay would sort.have tryed the rolling start tryed pretty much all what the book says.reset it the abs with the code reader read the abs no faults found so now running out of things to do.hes getting pi..ed off and yes both lights on when starting then one then the other flashing when going

that to me is typical of a low voltage from the battery.


ride it for a good few miles, turn it off, leave for a second and restart.

i will say again, typical of low voltage on the battery.


put a multimeter over the terminals and try it

Be a bit more informative, your lacking on the importanat details. What do you mean "when going" ??

Do they flash together with the engine running ( not starting, but engine running), and then go onto alternate flashing as you pull away.

Or do they go onto alternate flashing as you start the engine.

start engine bike is running.both lights flash together.. pull away and start riding lights then flash alternately. like i say band new BMW gel battery bought Friday.put on trickle charge over night he put on bike Saturday.been out riding Saturday and today so i would have thought had a good run/charge?
