I'm currently trying to resurrect my 1100GS after serious electrical fault about a year ago.

I've fitted a complete replacement loom to it after much fiddling (the whole loom melted), along with a replacement starter motor and solenoid.

I would now like to either read the fault codes from the engine management or just reset it.

I've seen the handy diagnostics tool from www.hex.co.za but it is incompatible with the 1100GS (mine's a '95)

Can anyone recommend something, or as a last resort just tell me how it can be reset?

Many Thanks for any help.

David

if you've not had any power to the motronic unit for the last year, it'll reset itself (clear any fualt codes) the moment you connect a new battery.

Thanks Steptoe

The battery has been connected though, although I suspect it is indeed clear. Is there any way I can do a force reset to be on the safe side (there are quite enough variables in the equation of this bike being revived already :))

Thanks for any help.

Pull fuse 5 (which is the same as disconnecting the battery). Then plug the fuse back in place. That clears the motronic memory.

Then ride it.

Thanks Steptoe.

I didn't realise from your post that just disconnecting the battery temporarily would clear the codes, that being the case probably pulling out and replacing the entire loom did it :)

I thought it might have had to be disconnected for a long period of time or reset somehow but that's me being an electrical numpty by the sound of it.

Thanks for the tips.
