Does anyone know if the switch for the neutral light is in the gear poisition indicator switch? The light is a bit tempimental, doesn't work all the time. Its probobly just a bit dirty and needs a clean, I just have to find it first
The neutral switch lives with the gear position switch at the back of the gearbox (separate items on the 1100 - one sits on top of the other - can't remember which way round it is).
It looks as though it'd be a right booger to get to (probably need to remove the swing arm to remove it completely
) - you might be able to flood it with WD40 and 'work' it as a first option. I guess it could also be worth checking the wiring to the switch.

A friend of mine brought his 1100RT to me with a similar problem. His neutral light would stay off, and he couldn't start his bike. If he put it in gear and held the clutch in it was ok. I was dreading having to get to the neutral switch, but a check of the wiring found a coupling plug on the left of the frame which had corroded. One of the 'spade' type connections had snapped inside the plastic so sometimes it would touch just enough to make a contact, others it wouldn't. 50p connector plug saw it fixed.
