start off with the threads marked 'sticky' at the top of this section. 1100s are qualiteeeeee generally, and avoiding some of the more common (potential) ailments doesn't cost very much. 'Tis a rich source of info on this venerable forum :thumb2 The one about the lower ignition wiring loom is a good one to start with.http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214151

Have a root around first - might stop some of the more grumpy types on here from shouting at you for asking them to dig out the threads you might need before searching for them yourself. Enjoy. :)

.....pssssst.....if you want another one.....I'm going to be selling one soon....kalahari yellow...watch this space.....

Just bought one myself, 1994, owned by a member here, and should be picking up on Sunday.

I sold my 1150 last year, which was a mistake, so I'm happy to back on a GS :beerjug:

Like Verns said - fill it and ride it and please don't try off roading on it unless you know what you are about. They are very capable off road but they are very heavy and they can hurt you. Get some advice before setting off to Mongolia :thumb

Where are you in this little island . ...??? Maybe we can meet up and show you what you can do to make it your own .

Thanks for all the comments so quickly.
Im not planning on touring the world just yet and just enjoying getting used to riding a bike again. All the cow S*%t on the roads aint helping though!!

Hello Geno.
Im down the Ards Peninsula near Kirkistown. Where do you hang out?? Would be good to let someone like you who knows these bikes to run your eye over it!!:eek

Just up the road in Newtownards , not far from duck pond , do you know it ?? Up and down the road quite often , get yourself on the forum as member , the advice and knowledge is well worth it . Plus great for bargains .

Yes i know it well. I grew up in Conlig and went to school etc in Ards!! Small world.
I am going to get subscribed to the site. I really like it already. As you say its helpful and everyone seems rightly friendly!
What bike you ride Geno?

I have a black 1100 95 I think , put plenty of bit on her over the 9 years I have owned here , new seat was first on list , bigger taller screen , lowered pegs , bar backs , new brake lines , that's just a few , each bike is very personal , oh and alloy wheels , so bigger rubber . When you sign up I will send you number and we can get chatting on how to spend your hard earned pennies lol

yes, Get a bigger crash helmet
