Can't think of a better word than initialising/priming - you know when you turn on the ignition, put up the side stand, then the fuel pump primes and RID fuel guage comes on.
So what reasons are for that not happening? I can only think of maybe the kill switch and side stand.
Not a jot out of it this morning - my #1 culprit is that the side stand switch is knackered which I think is a pain in the arse anyway.
If the side stand switch is the problem, is there any reason why I shouldn't short it out? I presume the switch is "on" when the side stand is up so hopefully I can snip the wire and solder the two wires together (if there are two). I don't have my Haynes manual handy to check out the wiring.
