Just got a new set of throttle cables and on both the short cables that come from the splitter box the inner teflon(?) liner is sticking out beyond the cable ferrule. Checked with the supplier and they are all like that in their stores, thing is, the original cables on my bike aren't.

I've never seen a liner sticking out like this, and they are firmly fixed in place. On one of them the liner just comes out beyond the end of the adjuster, but the other one the liner sticks out about 30mm beyond the adjuster which doesn't seem right.

:nenau Just cut the liner? The throttle cables probably aren't OEM. I just had a look on eBay and the liner always seems to be sticking out a bit - but definitely not as much as with your cables.

I think you might be right about them being pattern. I nipped off the longer liner in the end and fitted the cables, but one is a wee bit short- the adjuster is screwed in more than I would expect. Don't recall anyone telling me I was buying pattern cables :p1zzed:

If they're original they'll have bmw and the part number stamped on the outer cable.

Well one does have 'BMW' and a number on it, but it doesn't match the o/e number. The other has the number but nothing else. There is enough adjustment in the slightly short one to allow the throttle to work properly, but as I say, it's not quite what I'd expect from o/e kit. The inner cable is actually woven rather than twisted, which I know is an option some of the aftermarket manufacturers like Venhill offer.
