I am looking for either an 1100 or 1150gs. I have been watching what some have sold for, but the prices seen to vary enormously for what seem like similar bikes.
One has come up quite locally. It is a 97 1100, with just under 70K on it. From the high res pics it seems to have only minor corrosion in the usual places and is said to run well. It has no luggage with it. What would be a fair price do you think?

i'd guess £2300 in the real buyers world

I agree.

If the mileage was about 20000 lower then it would be the higher end of 1100values at about 2750.

If it had desirable bits like luggage, Remus or a few TT bits and was really tidy maybe between 3000 - 3250.

About £2000- 2700 depending on condition, extra bits etc... but i'd guess £2300 in the real buyers world

This sounds right, my 98 with 32500 on the clock cost me £2300 after I had sold the system panniers and H&B Gobi top box. (this was only back in January). But the market for the 1100 seems to have strengthened a little since then.

Hope this helps.

After a long time looking I paid £2500 for my 'looked after' 34k '94 with 3 previous owners, a full dealer history and Givi plastic luggage (which I sold).

Tuned's £2300 sounds a fair estimate for a 70k '97 (which has the later gearbox).

However some sellers do have inflated ideas of value (dealers especially seem to try to cash in on their reputation and sometimes dramatically over price older 11xx's) - as ever it depends on condition etc - I went to see a similar age / mileage bike to the one I bought which was on its 14th owner and was a complete dog.

Mark, If its Redroosters GS your reffering to it looks a good one for the money, particularly as it has lots of extras (apart from cases) it does include the mounting racks, so a set of metal boxes from another member who is your way for £300 or so and you will be well set up. I spoke to the previous owner too, another 'tosser' and it appears to have been well maintained and also has had a recent new battery and starter motor. john:)

Took the plunge and will be picking it up this weekend. If anyone has any suitable H&B panniers let me know.

Well done Mark, the bike is worth as much as you want to pay for :bounce1 We get a few dinosaurs popping up in the airhead section with their repeated and somewhat boring ramblings ( and some have only owned one or even never owned an airhead etc:rolleyes: )...we tend to ignore them:thumb2
