I was just pointing out that because of us" fashion victims"
there are some decent bikes going for peanuts,
A while back i posted one on the for sale board £3,100 for
a GS 1100 with 12k .

I know - I was only joking. 3,100 for a 1100 grief - sad thing is I cannot justify a second one.

Anyhow us oilheads should stick together it is those airy fairy types we have to be careful of. Hey jud9e !

wink wink.... oh I'll duck now.;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

and so the wrath of the airheads will be upon us. What ever are they doing out of there little grouping of threads anyhow.

Oh no this hole is getting bigger and blacker :)

'Scuse me Mr TORTOISE but I hear you're soooooo SLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWW that any bike is wasted on you - even an agricultural Airhead, I reckon the power in your bike's starter motor is enough for your abilities, or so I am led to believe ;) :D

OK gloves off. B@ST@RD leave my pet tortoise out of it. He caused no harm to you did he. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Oh dear all those OOOOOOOs slowing me down. Don't talk to me about the master we worship you oh starter motor he who has more power than I can deal with. I am not worthy.

to hell with it - don't spare the horses sir - Ride that starter motor till the contacts burn out

And breath out and relax. :)

There seems to be agreement that build quality is better on the 1100. Can anyone explain the differences that are relevant to the 1100/1150 and how it affects the bikes.

Me, I toyed with the idea of an 1100 4 years ago, but the looks put me off (and my children expressed a more forcible opinion!).

You can switch off the ABS. Getting used to it. Err dunno only ridden about 6-10 different models. Only ever owned one a R1100GS with ABS. Personally I have found the rear very easy to put the ABS on (ie engage it). The front I did once but the road was a bit slippy.

The tortoise. LOL LOL - - Well I Is SLOOOOOOOOOW apparently. After all who needs a chipped bike if yer brain is slow - hey see an upside:). B0110CKS I say I just like keeping my distance, sometimes just sometimes it feels safer that way. The other thing I love to do is sit back in group and learn from others riding, quite how playing catch up means you're slow I have no flaming idea.

Others say - oooo er that was brisk, v good progress, what have you mod'ed on it. etc etc ... the jury is out. Mind you jud9e was following me yesterday so I guess I am damned as being slow. BUT notice he was following me - a man who has GPS he has the internet always at his finger tips, so he could have been in front. My excuse - ice. Actually maybe I am a whimp, or is that safety concious ?

Ride your own ride thats what I say. And who cares about macho death defying recognition awards - no good if yer no here there are no prizes for self inducing your own demise
> rant off.

Now I know why I have hardly had ABS on I am slow. Of course I may have just never bothers to have a flaming emergency. I once tried like hell to get ABS to come on the front and could not, but then it was dry (and I am a tortoise of course)

Hey Jud9e, you know what If I get 52mpg when on a long stoll maybe the 42mpg when I thrash the hell out of it is not valid at all. Maybe a monkey puts the choke on when I am not looking ? I dunno ?

Actually to set the record straight, Malky isn't a slow rider or for that matter a fast rider that was a leg-pull and a bit of an 'in-joke' between us - he is a highly competent rider, especially considering his relatively short riding experience. Competent in that he rides within his limits, competent in that he won't take risks, competent in that he won't jeopardise his life or his family's future in an effort to 'prove' his abilities.

If that means he's not considered 'in' with the elite who believe that though on two-wheels they own the road, or he get's 'tagged' with being slow then so be it. He'll live with it as would I.

Yours,

The Snail (assuming you understand a snail is slower than a tortoise :D)

Sorry the the overly-serious post - I'm in one of those moods today :(

(Probably why I have an airhead - no expectation you see ;) )
