So; I'm 61 this year and I'm a bit battered from work (building) and I've decided the GS is too heavy when panniered up. So I managed to buy a 2003 registered RS for £840 on ebay. It seems to be in good fettle so I think the GS will soon be getting set back to standard and sold (Hopefully I can find all the bits).

If that's a 2003 it must have been a very late plod issue or similar... Always underrated bikes if you fit on them fine ..👍

I have no idea why the thing was registered late but I have a lot of service record and names of previous owners. I haven't had the log book yet.
The first MOT (May 2006) mileage was only 9902 so seems low for a police bike? No weird holes found yet either. It was sold for £5550 in June 2006 with panniers included
Bought from Rainbow motorcycles in Rotheram 1st May 2003

Great stuff... Looks a really great deal and marginally cheaper than my scruffy 1150RT bought in the summer on a hunch...👍 It's an interesting looking bike and registered during the last 3rd of the 1150 era... Nothing better than a bargain and like I said, very underrated and with a loyal ownership of riders rather than polishers...👌

Police vehicles are not MOT'd in the job (even if kept for more than 3 years), first MOT on the system is after they are sold on to the public, hence why unscrupulous dealers buy them then clock the mileage

Other option is the bike was previously registered abroad to say British Forces in Germany and then went on a 2003 plare once back in the UK .
Back in the 90's and early 2000's the DVLA were lax about issuing age appropriate plates

I'll know better when I see the log book.
