Gents need to test the knowledge of the posse as google is not being my friend !!!

Looking into the possibilities of buying an 1150 Adv SE and wondering did they all come with the same basic bike spec ?? and if they did what is it ??

i.e ABS, Enduro gear box, Heated grips etc etc

Also all the bikes I have seen have been white with the two tone seat is this the only colour scheme ?? will the log book note it as a 1150 Adv Se as i have seen some bikes done up to look like one ??

So many questions so little time just dont want to be ripped off I guess, as there seems to be a bit of difference etween these beuts and a standard Adv.

Also any top tips or known problems with them when looking for one ??

Yes white was the only colour, no different to the non se adv really as most adv's have the extras spec'ed by the buyers anyway the 'se' just got em slung on for free. Dont know about the log book specifying if it is an se though.

The main reason these bikes retain a premium second hand is not really to do with the SE moniker it's more to do with condition. They were the last of the 1150 GSAs and so will have lower mileage and better condition than earlier ones. They also tend to be bought by people who want to cosset them rather than ride them hard (obviously there are some exceptions Tim ;) ).

It will be another 45 years before you'll need to worry about what the log book says it was :rob

The 1150 ADV SE was the last of the 1150 adventures off the production line and came as standard with the following:

white indicator lenses
Integral ABS
crash bars
heated grips
different gear ratio (adventure spek)
white adventure 31 ltr tank
blue/grey adventure seat

There were only 90 of them imported into the UK and they tend to hold their price better than other models. A recent one went on ebay for over 9K:eek: (it was in as new condition with only a few K miles on it).
As far as the log book goes, it does not state that the bike is an SE (unless mine is a fake:eek:) just that it's an 1150 GS Adventure and that the colour is White/Blue.....

They are by far the best looking GSA and in demand.......:D

SE or not SE ?

Although the V5 log book might not say it if you give the chassis number to a BMW dealer they can punch that into their computer and confirm exactly what spec the bike was when it was originally sold .

Now, it still might not say whether the bike was an SE or not ( it dont know if it will or wont ) but it will say what colour it was and the 'normal' R1150GS was never sold in white .:thumb
 
The SE is no big deal and certainly wouldn't pay a premium for one, although some others may feel inclined to pay more

With the exception of the white paint colourscheme.......................it's exactly the same as a Silver or Black 1150Adv and those could be ordered with the Enduro Gearbox and Silver engine FOC from the factory, although many people didn't know this..................mine was built in early April 2005, just before the SE's were announced and has all the same features as the SE model, except it's Silver and luckily doesn't have those dreadful Servo ABS brakes - I took the wise option to subtract the ABS (saving £750 too) from my order and bloody glad I did

it's exactly the same as a Silver or Black 1150Adv and those could be ordered with the Enduro Gearbox and Silver engine FOC from the factory, although many people didn't know this...So does this mean my silver engined, enduro boxed black ADV is rarer than an SE.Must admit I have not seen many :thumb2
