1150 Firing on one cylinder!

2004 1150 GSA.

Just replaced the Mickey-Mouse crimped clamps on the flexible fuel pipes that run from the Fuel Distributor to the hoses with the QD connectors.

Not touched anything else.

Offside cylinder not firing now.

Good spark at the plugs.

Nearside down-pipe heats-up.

Offside down-pipe remains cold.

No fuel on plugs.

Just to be sure, I swapped the hoses around. Fuel pump then makes gargling noises with ignition on.

Swapped them back, normal sound of fuel pump.

Any ideas?

Check the connector is allowing fuel through to the injector, as it sounds like you have no pressure @ the injector

Thanks for that. Not sure why that would stop any fuel reaching the cylinder though!

Injector is squirting away merrily!

Just burnt my hand on the left down-pipe, right one is stone cold!

this happened to me, some ar*se allowed his V strom to fall against my bike, worked ok for 200 miles, then wouldnt start, but symtoms were the fuel pump making a high pitched whine, one of the quick disconnects had disconnected

Yes. All three are fine, no fuel leaking from them.

Bike starts (on one cylinder with fast idle open), runs on nearside (left cylinder), close throttle, quite a decent pop from the exhaust, engine dies.

So you have fuel & a good spark, add air + compression so it should fire

it's because the L/H throttle controls the amount of fuel injected. The R/H is a slave.

Try pulling each throttle cable seperatly by hand. The L/H will rev the engine, the R/H will stall it.

No I don't.

That was the first thing I checked.

I have no combustion in the right-hand cylinder, despite an injector squirting happily and a spark (I have only checked the primary plug but that should be enough to cause ignition).

It isn't just running rough, it's only running on the left cylinder.

Seems as though I will have to stick it on a truck and see what the BMW diagnostic 'puter says!

Like i said you have fuel & a good spark what about compression & air flow
But if it ran before you fiddled with it, you need to take a good look @ every thing you have done or may have affected

Quick connector faulty. swap them round to find out.

I've done the 're-trace steps' bit.

All I have done is taken off the tank, removed the crimped hose-clips both sides of the QD connectors plus those on the black plastic pipes that run from the Fuel Distributor to the rubber hoses with the QD connectors. Then fitted stainless steel hose clips of the jubilee variety.

I removed one clip at a time and replaced it, working on one section of the hoses at a time.

I've had the tank off plenty of times before, I've done nothing different this time. All connections are made.

There is good compression on the cylinder.

There is fuel at the injector and a spark but no combustion.

I've thought about crap in the hoses or damaged QD connectors but then there wouldn't be fuel spraying from the injector.

This just doesn't seem to make any sense whatsoever!
