1150 gbox incognito

My gearbox went all grumbly, thanks to Tarka for advice.
I have found and got a box on ebay which I am assured only has 1500 miles on it and am in process of putting it on together with new clutch parts from motorworks. Ive never done this before but how hard can it be ????.
Any road up, the box I am taking off might as well be rebuilt (61000 miles and grumbling) and I have heard that a chap called Mick Barr undertakes gbox rebuilds, whos he and is he recommended ?, if not anyone else recommended in Yorkshire area ?.
Any help appreciated.

Mick Barr is based in leicestershire, a place called scraptoft if memeory serves me, google him for his contact details, or ask in the east midlands forum.
The last time i spoke to him he was either slowing down ,or part retired

just got the gearbox apart, loads of small (approx 0.25mm) plastic bits in there, output bearing seems O.K. but input bearing sounds horrid fun fun fun.
By the look of it it doesnt seem too big a job to replace all the bearings, just need to get some brg pullers.

Hi hodge1150,it looks like i'll be tearing my tranny apart same as you.Is it pretty straightforward to do or are there nasty suprises to overcome?.

so far no problems, I have also taken the casing off the gearbox I bought on ebay (just paranoia really as I found a v small sliver of metal on the magnetic drain plug) everything seems fine and the gears/bearings are much quieter). I will put the casing back on (with new output oilseals from motorworks) in a mo and am going to put a new clutch in at the same time (£210.17) plus new felt seal on pushrod £ 1.59. I will post here how I get on. As I put before I am an amateur at this but have been doing my own maintenance on various machines since god were a lad.
One thing to watch out for!!!!, just remembered, you need to take the starter motor off. The nut holding the power cable to the starter motor is steel but the threaded stud is copper. I f++++ed mine as the whole lot revolved in the starter when I tried to undo it. Put loads of penetrating oil on it and good luck.
