clean the contacts in tank, adjust arm if necessary. I also read something about some wire corrosion or something, either on here or adv rider recently....whatever they said, try that!

Are you sure you have an Adv fuel pump plate? Your symptoms sound similar to mine, and mine has a GS Lite plate fitted in its 30 litre tank, rather than an Adv one...
All that's happened the the float arm has worn slightly and now pulls the thin metal contact away from the pointiometer thing when the tank is full. Mine did the same and knocked out the temp gauge until id done about 80 mile. As the first poster said open up tank and bend the needle down harder so it compensates for the pull in the arm.
The fuel gauge is the v shaped piece that's flimsy. The low fuel light is the solid piece that is in between the v. The last sentence will make sense once you have opened it up.
