Hi chaps.

I have a 2002 GSA and I have fitted a Y-piece and Remus can.

The bike now seems to be running rich. Have I missed something? :nenau

Thanks!

Think mine is running a little rich too..

I changed spark plugs and they were like powder fluffy black. i looked in to pot and could see top of piston pretty black too...I got the odd flame out the end when i give it a blip at a standstill.. Running a bit dog like in the last month to be honest.

I have a 2002 gsa with y piece with a carbon can co exhaust with the baffle removed. (straight through really... :))))

I changed sparks, inserted a new K&N filter and cleaned the o2 sensor. my bike is still in bits due to other work done but i should have it fired up again over the weekend. I will also open throttle a couple of times with ignition on, although not sure what this does but everyone is doing it...

I will also try a strong mix of redex or forte (which ever comes first) through the tank too...

I will update when i get her running again..

You can smell that its running rich. A guy who was following me to a rally commented on it. I am also getting black deposits on my panniers as well.

I put the sensor back in, that was the first thing I checked.

Do I need to change or check anything else?

Thanks.

Air filter - maybe??

And of course there's the famous 'steptoe catcode mod' to play about with....

Putting a Remus can/Y piece usually leans things up a bit.
If the rich running has only occurred since you fitted them, the most logical source of the problem is with the work carried out.
The O2 sensor/lambda probe thingy (which controls the mixture setting to a degree) seems the first thing to check out,but you should also search on "Cat code plug"(i believe this changes the ECU mapping to compensate for different conditions) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) adjustment (this affects the amount of fuel gobbed into the motor).
Also try removing F5 (for about 30 secs)to reset the ECU and then ,with the ignition on,motor not running, fully open and close the throttle a couple of times to allow the ECU to "learn" its min/max setting.
