Special Edition

We have a little registry going over at ADVrider. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=375824.

In the first post there is also a link to an actual web based registry as we're hoping to pin down just how many of these babies there were.
http://www.ericsyn.com/2006bmwr1150gsadv.html.

We're hearing 25 went to Australia and now I hear 90 to the UK.
Does anybody really know the whole story? Why were these made? What else makes them different from the others.

Please chime in.

paint code?

anyone out there help me out with the official white colour and code, going to get some side panels painted.. maybe a bulk order.....:augie

Paint code

I bought a touch-up brush, which is part number:- 51 91 7 652 225 , item described as 956 alpine white 3 matt.

Not sure, but the 956 may be related to the paint code :nenau

My SE ADV

Oh, and here's a pic of mine.

The dealer sold their last one in the hour or two that I was getting permission from SWMBO, to a guy who was holding off till Jan 06 to register.

So allegedly...... they located the last one in the UK, (London dealer) which was assembled and on a display stand in their showroom.

They wouldn't release it and it ended up in a phone call to the top dog at BMW motorad UK, who made them pack it up and ship it off to me.

Only prob was, I wanted it for the next day, for a Highlands trip. So I got the crated one and t'other guy got the very last one shipped from London.

I was led to believe I did the deal for the very last UK one on 21/9/05 and took delivery next day. :monkeypiz

That is such a cool pic. Who needs a centerstand? :) For some reason, I can't post pics.
Thanks for the post and for taking a look on ADV.

What was the difference between the standard Adv and the SE?

Easy. They did what the motor trade always do when they have surplus stock. They paint them a different colour. They put a special badge on them. They give them a Limited Edition status and a slightly inflated price....and sell them to suckers who think they got something different. :hide

They do look good though, I have to admit. BMW should have binned the 1200 and just made more white 1150s :green gri

Thanks

There are so many stories about it being different and it sure feels different. Another thing is that you have the question of why two years after they started making the 1200 did they have excess stockof the 1150? Was it Ewan and Charlie that kept it hanging on and helped the bike with the curvy tank persist? Was it a cancelled Authority Bike order from South America? No one seems to really know the whole story.
We've had reported that 171 went to the US, 25 to Oz, 70 here in the UK. and....and? We just don't know.
...and of course we have all the ya-hoos that like to make fun of our bikes because our are the best looking. I know it's hard for them.

They actually knocked around £1000 off compared to the price of a standard GSA to the same spec............:blast

When I moved to the US there was an unsold one at my local dealer for months - they didn't sell it until August 2006........I just wish now that I could say I bought it, but I didn't......I bought a Rockster instead......doh! Then I bought a 1200GSA but still wish I had got the 1150. Only problem at the time was that the seat looked too small for my wife on the back.

an other one in france

there was no badge fitted, and they were infact about £700 cheaper, selling for £9500.
