1150 GSA tank range

Are you saying you get 250 mile with 3 bars still available......

I've just got home from work with the fuel gauge flickering between 1 and 2 bars and the odometer showing 208 miles on it.....:nenau

Yup - 10 miles a litre sounds about right - old money 45mpg ish? (how does it work? A gallon is 4.4 litres or thereabouts?) As you'll see others on this thread are getting similar mileage - seems reasonable really since 1.2litre cars nowadays will give you 60mpg and better.

Last fuel bill for the bike was £26 for 23 litres - that left me with three bars showing and I'd done around 240 - 250 miles.
One before that was 21 litres and 220 miles.

I usually get 250 to 280 before the light comes on. 280 is riding like I have a small fluffy kitten precariously balanced on the beak.

I get around 10 mls / litre.

Went upto GOTC with Popeye. We both rode up together then stuck exactly the same in the bikes +/- 0.5 L when we filled up next.

Not bad going for repeatability if you ask me.

Did a fill up on Friday, brimmed it on s/stand.

290 mls till 1-2 bars showing, no light on. Had to fill up as going onto m/way. Reckon i would have got about 330ish. I do 68 miles each way to work, 136 round trip. Quick A roads for 13 miles, M4 for 50 miles at 70-80 mph, then 5 miles b roads.

1 up with a givi top box, although not a lot in it.

2004 (DEC) R1150 GSA with enduro box, std apart from that.

Sorry i cant be more precise:D:D

55 plate gsa se.
Light comes on at around 250.
In Scotland in June, 2up full luggage, passed a garage at Invermoriston on the western side of Loch Ness ,looked down 3 bars thought i'll be ok for a bit and headed off toward lochcarron.
Next thing i know fuel lights on and 25mls later still not found a garage,i think it was in Glen Shiel that we came across i tiny little garage.
The tank took just under 31ltrs we had done 287mls since the last fill.
Must have been close.

Interesting - I tend to fill on the sidestand, being small and weak, and I'm normally putting 24 litres in, refilling at around 180 miles which is 34 mpg. hmmm.

However, just been serviced, and I do spend a lot of time either at fast dual carrigeway speeds, or low rev low gear lanes.

Suspect I need to look at this a bit more carefully.

On occasion, brimming it on the centrestand, I've got 250 miles out of a tank.

Mildly worried now!

Only engine related change is an Akra, otherwise standard 52 plate GSA.

Think I'll do a decent run this weekend and check.

02 single spark GSA, with the lower top gear which cruises at 4000rpm showing 70mph, shows 6 on the gear indicator rather than E.

I normally get about 230 miles per tank and put about 25-26ltrs in on the s/stand.

I'm currently trying to keep the revs/speed down to eek out a bit more. The ride to work is 75 miles, 50% fast A roads (A41- lots of overtakes), 50% motorway (M54/M6 - 80mph then stop start to J6).

300 to 320

02 plate 1150 gsa I get regular 300-320 before filling up.
Last week with fuel guage not working I did 140 miles on the m6 then 160 miles around the lakes passes 2 up and bottled out at 305miles and filled up.

6th gear

how can you tell want 6th gear you have.is there something in the g/box number?? i think i do about 72/3 at 4000rpm.will check tomorrow

Are we factoring in speedo error?

I have an 05 Adv and my speedo was way out (more than 10% over read) so my speed, odometer and hence tank range was not at all right. You are doing less than you think...

Since fitted a speedo drive from an 1100 (I think) and it is almost spot on further up the scale....I don't know what I get to a tank now, but not enough!

Well of course you are not getting enough out of your tank - you've gone and bought longer miles and fitted them to the speedo!

I do my daily round trip to work and back at 4.5k on the revcounter (90ish?) on dual carriageways, with global panniers and a top box on my 1150GS fitted with the GSA tank. The odo over-reads by 6%, and it ran dry at 306 miles last time I checked.

from full to the light on 240miles 1/2 town 1/2 motorway seems not good when my 1100gs did 250 on a full tank which held less gogo juice

After my last comment, went out and checked again - doing just better than 10 miles a litre on the last tankfull, so in line with everyone else. Suspect there is a lot left in the bottom when I'm refilling (24 litre refill last time...) I'm a lot happier now!

The odo over-reads by 6%

My odo didn't seem to be linear in it's over reading (before I fitted a different ratio) so I don't think yours will be a constant 6%. At 30mph a speedo must be accurate, anything over that is questionable...

Mine now reads just a few + mph across my range with 40 & 50 being almost spot on. At 80 indicated (in a straight line) the gps indicates 77-78. I think that is about 4500rpm. I think that is about as best you can get without having it professionally calibrated.

I always last longer than all my mates (:)) as they have 20 odd litre tanks but I am sure on the odd occasion I have let it get low, I get more than 250 before the light comes on.

03 GSA the best ive ever had from a tank is 310 miles and squeezed 29ltrs in
the light will come on in anything from 250-280 miles, but even if im spanking it the lights never come on before 245:)
