Ever since I replaced the quick-release valve on the cross-over pipe I've had problems getting the pipe through the gap under the alternator when wanting to take the tank off.
Just doing some service work today and decided I'd put a new belt on so opted for the recommended Conti 4 PK 611 Elast ... Let me just say this - No feckin way will this belt fit!
I really need to raise the alternator (or put a second quick release valve on the off-side) and probably need a longer belt - so, other than a BMW belt (£££££'s), does anyone know if Conti (or other) does a longer belt ?
Bike is a 2005 model.
Ta.

For the QR connectors on the link pipe, it's best to have one on each side of it. That way there's no mucking around taking off or re-fitting the tank.

For the belt length, you'll need others to add to that. There are two lengths tho...

There are three sizes of belt available 585/582/611 . Some 592 belts for some reason have a 611 ref number - make sure you get a 611 belt that's spec'd for the 1100 and early 1150 model - fit it and you can raise the alternator high enough to get the link pipe Q/D under the alternator

Steptoe strikes again!

Thanks Neil - and thanks Slippery:thumb2

Blimey, there's 3 sizes!

Thankfully i already have a spare, but i'm going to check it! Thanks Steptoe.

Conti 4PK611 @ £6.83 from Euro parts - will pop it on later and report back:thumb2
