I bought a new WR250R last year (cracking bike) and as a result have neglected my trusty 1150. The last time she was used properly was a trip around Europe in July last year where she performed flawlessly. As winter set in i parked her up and removed the battery. I didn't want to use her much as the starter was playing up courtesy of a sticky solenoid, i think! Also, the lower bolt threads on the chassis were threaded.

She fired up fine when i last used her in January when i went to get a helicoil installed. When I tried yesterday she refused to start. Turned over fine and sounded like she'd start on a couple of occasions, but didn't.

Not really sure what to look at, any advice appreciated.

Just connect some jump starters from a car and keep the button pressed. It will start. I collected mine after 8 weeks in a crate - spark, fuel, wouldn't start. Got a battery booster pack and kept churning... off it goes.

How old is the petrol? It goes off after a while maybe try some fresh?

I had something similar with my 11RT it had been idle for quite a while over winter, it did cough and splutter back to life after quite a bit of cranking and having the throttle quite a way open if I recall.

Seeing as you took the tank off, have you made sure the throttles cables are correctly seated in their housings.

Jumpstart as described from a non running car, and maybe a naughty squirt of quickstart in the induction as she's spinning may help too.

Success! After a couple of minutes of chugging she roared back to life. Cheers all :beerjug:
