wonder if anyone can tell me about start up on 1150 is there a nack?
Had the bike a month and quite often after starting the abs flashes as a fault ,really annoying when you have to stop turn off and start again. After turning on it normally has 1 or 2 minutes before I ride off(gloves on etc). Thought I would ask before shouting at the shop.

cheers Brian..

thanks for the advice. If it needs a new battery surely the dealer should of picked that up on pre sale checks.

The starter motor puts a big drain on the battery and if its not fully charged there's not enough left to power up the ABS. This then causes the ABS lights to flash. Check the electrolyte in the battery and its state of charge. If its low charge it up, if its on its last legs then do as Cookie says and buy a new one.

Try waiting a few seconds after turning the ignition on and before hitting the starter button.

Also turn off all other electrical items heated grips, lights etc.

Part of ABS system safety checks is the battery voltage when you turn the ignition on.
If you happen to be pressing the starter as it's checking, it will read a low voltage on the battery, so switch the ABS off.

would be nice to think so.

try the other things first of course, but there should be no need for a charger if all is well with the battery/charge circuit.

Hi Brian,

Same problem here fella, I have an 1995 1100 gs tried all the info

everyone has suggested same problem as you, brand new battery

still have the lights running out of sync it really is hit and miss to

to get it just right probably four to five flashes to extinguish lights

Best regards Mack....

Brian if you take it back to the dealer he will tell you " They all do that sir" and for once he will be exactly right.

As you've heard if the battery is not tip top, you've not ridden the bike for a few days, or you have lights or grips ect on when u start then it will often/usually happen.

Hope you are enjoying the bike other than this 'quirk':thumb2
