Just wondered if anyone has had a clutch hydraulic failure -mine just went in the south of France (highly convenient) Seal problem was found - 15k miles, 03 bike

Reeeally, interesting - they don't tell you do they. French BMW dealer tried to flog me a complete clutch, thanks to Bristol Motorrad for phone help to persuade them off, but even I knew squidgy clutch lever equals hydraulics.
'Agincourt to you' I said

Any recommendations to change seals during major services in future?

What happens is the seal at the gearbox end fails, contanimating the clutch plates. By the time they start slipping it's too late, you need new clutch plates as well as a fix. Once fixed it should be okay. Mine failed at 18k miles (less than a year's worth of riding for me so under warrantee) and was fixed, since then I'm up to 57k miles now (so another 39k miles on the new clutch) without a problem.
I have to get an MoT in July, first time I've had to do that in a while.

Clutch slave cylinder = One of my suggestions to take with you when on a tour. Bit expensive to buy new and have as a spare , but i've got one so i take it with me, because i'm a smart arse. :D

Seals not available to repair
